If true, a 4.6 40 by LBJ is impressive.

How are any of you guys impressed by a 4.6.. It's not nothing crazy. I know he's way faster than this. If he got his technique get off and steps right I'm sure he could around 4.45

The method of the timing matters a lot when getting into the 10ths of a second on 40-times. The NFL players with their official combine measurements are all done with electronic timers. They know the guy's speed down to 100ths of a second.

There is a lot of room for error when you attempt to time a guy using a stop watch. That's why I never take the "mythical" 40-times all that seriously.

I don't doubt James can run a 4.6, although that is really fast for his size. It wouldn't shock me, but the electronic timed run is the only way to know for sure.

You're an idiot. You'd be hard pressed to find many 6'9 260 pounders running 4.6's. LeBron is damn near the size of a left tackle.

260 is the size of maybe a high school left tackle. He has the body type of a big tight end.

But, point taken. 4.6 is fast for a guy his size... Really fast.

Lebron looks a legit 265. If he dropped weight he would be a lot faster. But for his size it very impressive.

Where did you get that he ran in a suit and tie?

While being chased by a mountain lion.

Thought Lebron was around a 4.4 but its his size. I ran a 4.6-7ish in HS and most elite receivers run a 4.4

How cute, Wilt ran the same time in his bare feet and dress slacks whilst weighing 30 more pounds and being 6 inches taller with 8 inches more wingspan. But Lebron is the greatest athlete of all time still, right?

I'm past the point of debating you on this, but honestly anybody who just uses an eye test can easily see that Lebron is faster than Wilt. Barefoot. Suit and tie. All sorts of hyperbole from that era. That video of Wilt in high school versus a video of Lebron in high school is just laughable when you are comparing speed. If Chamberlain somehow really ran a 4.6 40 yard dash it in an amazing feat. Bill Russell running a 4.6 (at least from video I've seen) seems a lot lot lot more likely.

If you look at this video Lebron covers 64 feet (free throw to free throw) in anywhere between 2.3 to 2.5 seconds. Hard to tell exactly of course in the video. This converts to a 4.31 40-yard dash to 4.69 40-yard dash. I'm simply showing 'real video evidence' of my thoughts. If Lebron does a 4.6 no training, that is amazing. Looking at his pure speed in that video there is maybe 1 or 2 people i've ever seen run that fast in the NBA. Mostly they don't have a chance because they are dribbling. This video is rare glimpse of his pure speed though. No way can that be described as what an average in shape athletic person could do!
