Re: Boston College assistant coach Joe Jones will be new Boston University coach
ESPN Boston reports:
When Jones took the podium, he reminisced about his roots in the America East conference as an assistant at Hofstra from 1994-97, praised the BU teams of that day and flashed a self-deprecating sense of humor ("I had a little more hair back then," Jones joked, stroking his bald head, "a little high-top fade").
Jones said he plans to install an exciting, up-tempo brand of basketball and hopes to build upon the success the program enjoyed the previous two seasons under Chambers, who left last month to become the head coach at Penn State.
The head coach at Columbia from 2003-10, Jones oversaw the third-best single-season turnaround in Ivy League history (taking the Lions from 2-25 overall and 0-14 in conference to 10-17 overall and 6-8 in conference) in his first season. He also served as an assistant at Villanova under Jay Wright (who he also worked for at Hofstra) and Steve Lappas.
