Question Thoughts on the 1995 Epic "Heat" ?

Just thought I'd gauge the "Heat" of the room about this movie, after hearing that DonDadda thinks Michael Mann's cinematic epic, sucks.

Personally I think it's epic. The character were great, well performed. The cinematography and stylistic neo-noir grit was fantastic. (It's actually noted that Christopher Nolan took major influence from this film for his Dark Knight trilogy with creating a city fit for the Caped Crusader on the big screen)... Also loved the soundtrack... The ending scene complete with the theme is just... Epic.

Definitely one of my favorite movies.

What do you think?

Arguably the GOAT gunfight in a movie.

Good movie. The bank robbery scene was ridiculously over the top.

I took it for what it was worth. An entertaining, suspenseful 3 hour popcorn flick. However, there were so many contrived conveniences and coincidences

For starters:

Waingro slipping away to complete disappearance from Neal's (Deniro) pointed gun after Neal turned his head for 5 seconds.

The Tone Location just happens to know of some ex-cellmate who goes by the same alias (Slick), which happens to match the alias the cops are looking for.

Val Kilmer's character slipping away from the cops like that at the end. Some random white dude pulls up in front of the building, stops, looks up, then says to himself: "Uh oh. Gotta go". Cops stop him out of suspicion and let him go just because his name came back "clean"....as if these high-level/high tech criminals don't have the means to create something as simple as fake identities.

There's plenty more...and spare me the "you have to suspend believe and be imaginative" nonsense.
