Spot on.
When you actually know that the double dong is coming, it isn't nearly as perturbing.
The acting is also nothing to write home about, outside of the brilliant performance put in by the mother character.
All in all, it is a good movie that I would recommend everyone see once, but I'm not sure it is going to have the staying power to be anything more than a cult classic.
It definitely doesn't stack up when comparing it to truly superb films, in every aspect, like
No Country For Old Men and
There Will Be Blood, for example.
I feel like
The Wrestler is Aronofsky's finest work that I have seen. Then again, I haven't checked out his entire catalog to date... just most of it.
