FIFA classified the security threat as highest in Qatar so if that is wrong fine, but stop acting like i pulled it from my ass.

So lets take security out of it 100%. Ok? They still have no infrastructure built yet (a supposably required thing), they have no significant history in soccer, etc. They still were not the best bid.

You want to pick ONE point and argue they were but the fact is overall, they were a weaker bid. If FIFA only wanted a middle eastern nation i get that, but they should have said so. Why go through with the charade?

I just realized this means Qatar actually has to field a team during the 2022 world cup.

I wonder if they are just going to go for shameless and naturalize 20 Brazilians for the tournament, because the only other option is a complete humiliation.

this just doesn't make any sense to. I mean, if it was the whole UAE, I'm alright with it. But just Qatar? Even Switzerland had to team up with Austria just to be able to host the EC 2008.

Qatar probably cares more about football than the US, so I'd prefer they got the bid.

1994 World Cup has the highest attendance for any WC ever. So even if US does not care about futbol, it still is able to pack the stadiums pretty damn good.

you didn't just equal " a bunch of summer sports" to the biggest event in the world, did you?

On top of that every rich family from Saudi, Bahrain and UAE will probably have storm in there tapping up tickets like nobodies business, they love football in the middle east as much as Europeans and South Americans, they just have a shitty national league and mostly watch Italian or English league-so if you watch the national league with half empty stadiums it looks like they aren't in to football their but really they just dont like inferior products.

Stop saying a nation needs a football history-Hosting world cups IS HOW YOU GET FOOTBALL HISTORY

The interesting thing is that they can almost seat the entire population of the country inside all the new stadiums they'll bid.

US fans bought the most tickets for the WC 2010.

And this is one of the greatest sports videos ever.

Qatar has some really impressive ideas for stadiums. From a technological and architectural perspective, I have no doubt that whatever designs they end up building will be some of the most impressive stadiums on the planet.

Of course the majority will be destroyed a week after the cup, and the ones that aren't will be stripped for parts in about 50 years when the oil money runs out which makes the whole endeavor a massive waste of resources...err I changed my mind. **** Qatar.
