Lightbulb CBS Sports: Off season Power Rankings

    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/powerrankings

There are three more major dramas to unfold in this NBA offseason: the Eric Bledsoe situation in Phoenix (with Bledsoe chafing at how the Suns have treated him as a restricted free agent), the Greg Monroe situation (which makes the Bledsoe situation seem like a lover's tiff over who forgot to load the dishwasher) and the Kevin Love trade.

Those are three pretty big dominoes, and when reading these rankings, take them with a huge pile of asterisks in regard to those three situations being up in the air.

But also consider that many teams won't be affected by what happens. Yes, any one of those players could be involved in a sign-and-trade that could have major unforeseen effects, but our top team, San Antonio? It's not like the Spurs are going anywhere based on whatever happens with those three stars.

Or even the Wizards. Washington knows what it's doing next season and has locked up its cap space. It won't move up or down based on any of those developments. And the Pistons could trade Monroe and the rest of their starting five for 50 cents on the dollar and still have a better team than Philadelphia.

So with that, enjoy this "mostly complete" edition of the NBA Power Rankings. It's like that IKEA bookshelf you put together and then realized you've got three bolts left over. Oh, well. Load it up.

    29. LA Lakers
    28. Milwaukee
    27. Orlando
    26. Boston
These teams were in the Finals only a few years ago. Things sure can change quickly.

    10. Toronto
    9. Washington
    8. Miami
    7. Dallas
    6. Indiana
    5. Cleveland
    4. Chicago
    3. LA Clippers
    2. Oklahoma City
    1. San Antonio
Cleveland is too high and Toronto too low. Toronto will be better than Washington and Miami. Indiana and Dallas should be ahead of Cleveland.

What did Toronto do other than retaining their guys this summer? Did I miss something?

I'm a Rockets fan, but I just can't see them being better than any of the teams I have above them.

Especially the Pelicans, people are sleeping on them. Davis apparently grew an inch and put on like 15 pounds of muscle..then you get back a healthy Jrue and Ryno..Tyreke and Asik...they're loaded.

That core was on 55 win pace last season. They added Lou Williams and James Johnson too, who are both going to be the 8th and 9th guys off the bench. Lou, when healthy, can score a lot off the bench and James a specialist defensive player who was one of the key players to help Memphis last year.

I'm assuming they'll be that high in terms of playoff seeding and overall as team, due to overall chemistry and DeMar/Jonas/Ross taking further steps in their development.

5 guys will be in a contract year (6 if we include James Johnson, since his 2nd year isn't guaranteed), so I'm sure more of the players will have some extra motivation to play for.
