Default MIP Nomination(s):Brook Lopez 2009-10:20 and 10, and an All Star Berth

What makes Brook's rookie season truly impressive was his ability to avoid fouling. He only committed 3.7 fouls per 36 minutes as a rook. I expect his impressive block numbers to decline though, as he will have to conserve his energy for offense, and pick his spots because the team is relying on him to be the team's second option.

20 and 10. The All Star Game. And The MIP.

I thought he was utilized pretty well last season, Devin and Vince many times were willing to share the load with Brook, Vince especially maybe not Devin. However, It would be very nice if he could be a 20/10 player next season, big fan of him. His very similar skill sets with Tim Duncan. Almost any role player on the Nets could be the most improved player and I was leaning towards Courtney Lee.

Devin Harris is pretty much topped off production wise. His body was barely able to handle the additional scoring responsibilty this year. Brook only attempted 10 per game last year to get his 13 points. His field goal and free throw shooting percentages points to him being able to increase his scoring output with increased opportunites. As a 2nd year player he should receive more respect fromt he refs and get to the line more than his 2.6 trips per game average as a rook. It is also not inconceivable that a player who averaged 8 rebounds, and is a pretty good rebounder, can not add an additional two boards to his average.

Well he'd better get a few more rebounds.

Vince Carter (and Jason Kidd earlier) were a pair of the best rebounding guards of the time they were together.

Now that both are gone, who is going to fill the rebounding void?

Yi may give you 10 boards one night, then 2 or 3 the next.
Harris and Lee definitely are not.
Bobby Simmons? Jarvis Hayes?

Lopez needs to average 10+ for the Nets not to get killed by offensive put backs alone

Boone is certainly one of our best rebounders. Courtney and Harris arent really known as rebounders... maybe T.Williams?

I think Brook will certainly shine this season, but I don't believe in naming 2nd year players as MIP candidates unless they become All NBA 1st team worthy or MVP. Not if they just shot up because of increased role + supposed to improve.
