Default We're dropping like flies

First Boone, then House, now Williams.

Quote:
The Nets have announced that Marcus Williams will be out "indefinitely" with a sprained left wrist. Williams jammed his left wrist in practice Tuesday. Lawrence Frank describes the injury as a "cause for concern" and is already talking about backup plans "if Marcus is out for any time". Dave D'Alessandro said the Nets would not disclose the severity of the sprain, only that it's bad but will NOT require surgery.

Word is that it will be about 4 weeks, from now. About 6 or 7 games into November he should return.

Default re:

no backup PG for Kidd?

sprained wrist is sometin that needs to rehab, thank god it's not something that needs surgery.

with Jacque Vaughn gone, the Nets will need Jay Williams to play backup now. JAY WILLIAMS!

when the year begins, it will be much like last year's squad.

basically everyone pitches in.

Kidd will try his very best to drop a 3D every night.

Carter will drop 25+ for the first few games, or try to.

RJ will do everything he can.

I bet Jason Collins and Krstic will be trying to rebound rebound rebound.

let's look at the first few games of teh season shall we?

Toronto (Winnable)
@Miami (Challenge)
Utah (Winnable)
Miami (Winnable)
@Washington (Challenge)
Seattle (Challenge, because it's a back to back)
Milwaukee (Winnable)
@Indiana (Challenge)
Portland (Winnable, but back to back)
@Seattle (Winnable)
@Portland (Winnable)
@Phoenix (Challenge)
@Lakers (Challenge)

WSH/Seattle and Indiana/Portland are back to backs.

the opening season will be a challenge for a suddenly depleted roster.

I've marked the winnable games and challenge games.

i think if everything plays out, we should be 7-6 at the worst.

jesus, that's a bummer. this is not what i was hoping to hear...

OTOH, if there's a time to get injured the best possible time is before the season starts. the first quarter of the season is practically an extended preseason anyway. also, marcus is not so invaluable yet that his minutes (let's say about 10-15mpg) can't be replaced by some FA PG with little or no drop off in overall production.

but what this prolly means is a little more time for house and that's about it. RJ and vince took a much more active role in ball distribution last year, so they won't particularly need house to distribute- if he shoots and defends well then everything should be fine until marcus gets back.

EDIT: ah crap, i just remembered house went down. okay, this is prolly jay williams' big opportunity he's been waiting for. otherwise i'm expecting a FA signing soon...
