Alright, now that the trades are done and we have effectively moved more money out with Jeffries and Hill (were guaranteed for 2010) we now only have four players under contract for 2010:
If we can somehow look at buying Curry out over the summer, that may allow for 2-3 million extra on the books UNLESS they decide that he will now be the starting center for the Knicks. All other players will have to be released by July 1st aside from the four listed above for cap reasons. Both D. Lee and T-Mac have to be released because their cap hold figures are needed to sign free agents so they will both be unrestricted as of July 1st. Neither can be signed until AFTER we move on free agents and that leaves us exposed to losing D. Lee for nothing BUT it is part of this contract shedding process. We have no 1st round pick this year, two second round picks which both WILL make the team because we need bodies to fill out the roster. (You must carry 15 players on your roster)
Now it gets interesting because IF we don't land any of the major free agents this summer, the Knicks will look like the Knicks of 1984/85.
And the 24-58 record was with Bernard for 55 games.
I know that I wrote previously about a lineup of:
BUT since that is out of the window with Tyrus going to Charlotte, what happens next?????
Maybe we need to come to the reality that this could get much worse before it gets better.
