Re: guy from craigslist is asking for some money back, advice?
I would tell him to fvck off seeing as how he already got a fantastic deal on the macbook anyway. Even craigslist says that it doesn't work like that on their website; and legally absolves themselves and you from any legal action through that warning. People on craigslist try to pull this type of stuff all the time; trying to get money back for some minor issue that you yourself didn't notice. I'd ignore this guy he's probably trying to scam you

Not that the OP is going to get sued, but Craigslist is legally absolved from buyer/seller issues, but that doesn't mean the buyers and sellers are legally absolved. You can certainly get sued for scamming people by lying through Craigslist.
Re: guy from craigslist is asking for some money back, advice?
I offered the guy a full refund, even though I wouldn't have actually given the refund. He responded by saying that isn't an option because he already upgraded the software to Lion. I told him that in my position offering a full refund, or allowing him to accept the mac as is is fair. He then asked for me to paypal him $30 instead of $50. He's not getting anything.

Lol. Yeah, he just seems like a penny pincher. Lol, once he made any upgrades it's on him if he waited till that point. Lol, paying money to upgrade a hella old laptop. People never fail to surprise me.
