How does that not hold any water? Traditionally centers do average more points because in this league it is easier to rack up points being a terrific play maker then a terrific goal scorer.

Gretzky is a rare case of a playmaker being an exceptional goal scorer. How many times has Bure, Hull etc. won the scoring title? I do recall Ovechkin having the most goals and points last year. Both him and Evgenyi played 82 games last year. Backstorm had 69 points in 82 games, only scoring 14 goals. Wonder why he had 55 assists last year? Uhmm...

The reason I think Alexander is the better player is because he is to me a better skater, goal scorer, more physical.

You give both of them a bunch of scrubs, I do believe Alexander will outperform Evgenyi as a hockey player. Washington are 13 points ahead of Pittsburgh, that is another reason why I think NHL is a piece of crap.

Ok, give Malkin the starting C position, he has earned it since he is the best C in the east (perhaps the league), but placing Crosby above Alex is a joke to me.

Our argument began with me saying Alex is better then all 3 starters for the east, you have yet to prove me wrong. All you did was tell me how my argument "holds no water". Sadly, neither does yours.

Just please don't reply again stressing how I didn't know Crosby and Malkin played on the same line, trying to derail the argument at hand.

The argument at hand, is what makes Malkin better then Ovechkin this season?

completely stupid that no Sharks or Bruins are in the starting lineup, just proves its a popularity contest. At least for the Sharks Dan Boyle should have been starting.

Uh, who cares about last year? We're talking about this one. Pretty obviously Ovechkin had the best season of anyone last year. And this Backstrom stuff is just getting ridiculous. I don't even see where you're taking it. Ovechkin has better players on his line than Malkin does. This is just a fact. Accept it, move on.

Interesting theory.

That's pretty important because it demolishes your credibility. Any basic hockey fan knows these two seldom play together and definitely not on the same line. Give me a reason why I should take you seriously when you make arguments that you have no idea about? What argument have you made for Ovechkin having a better season? "He's more physical and scores more goals." That about sums it up. Like, everything you've said to this point screams that you have very little hockey knowledge, so please, tell me something I don't know already, and maybe this will go somewhere.

How many times have you watched Evgeni Malkin play this year?
