Default Understanding Indie Music

The most important aspect of the indie music culture is discovering bands that nobody else likes. But how's an over educated 32 year old to decide between all of the weirdly named bands? Two helpful charts:

It's like that joke. What's the best way to piss off an indie music snob? Actually enjoy listening to music.

Indie music needs to be put down, there are hundreds of **** indie labels that are polluting the music industry with the same recycled hipster bull**** that eats away at all my musical sensibilities, lets throw out spark and general idea the genre had in its inception and lets all see who can be the biggest indie whore on the block. Right now its become nothing more then a lame excuse to call yourself "deep and poetic".

Never been into indie music, it seems to quite popular over here in the UK. I've found that many fans of indie music are pricks.
