He's an idiot for trying to censor this info. Most white Americans with British ancestry and almost every African American has family ties to white slave owners.

Ben Affleck is so humble he doesn't want people to know his ancestors were rich.

No need to censor it. Its a part of our country's very dirty history. You just seem lame trying to hide this stuff. Also, f*ck Henry Louis Gates for deciding this was an "issue" that needed addressing.

The people that owned slaves were for the most part wealthy plantation owners. Even though hundreds of thousands of Southerners fought to preserve slavery very few of them actually owned any slaves.

Yup. The ignorant poor fighting and dying for the agenda of the minority wealthy ruling class. Some things never change.
The average White confederate back then should've been angry that land owners were using free labor instead of providing paying jobs to the populace.

So true. I think Affleck was just trying to protect black people. i mean if you suddenly found out that your ancestors were owned by his it might be too much to handle.

Shouldn't it be relatively easy for someone to use ancestry.com or something to trace his ancestry and prove this as true or false?
