Tremendous performance in a game 7 tonight, incidentally. 11-16 shooting for 27, 11 is just marvelous for a 39 year old.
no case for top 4. absolutely none.
kareem/jordan/wilt/magic/russell were all better.
learn the game

Re: Duncan is NOT top 5 all time
Well, 5 pages of discussion so at least there's an argument for it. I think he has absolutely no case over MJ and Kareem. For Russell, depending on how much value you place on Russell's (lack of) offensive output - TD has a case. Magic and Bird - the defense and longevity are in TD's favor. So even if you rate Wilt and Hakeem higher, there's still space in the top 5. Everybody else - he has a case against and his career is not over yet.

Then, from 2008 to 2012, his dominance started slipping and his title winning came to a halt, which brought Duncan down to near obscurity levels for a supposed top-5 GOAT. His name wouldn't even appear once for multiple pages/days in a row, even in serious NBA sites. His legacy gained nothing during those years. Then, in 2013, he returned to title contending with a clearly reduced role compared to his prime and thus he's suddenly become top-5? Seriously, unless his individual impact is, in some way, as large as it's ever been in his prime, how gripped on team success and past prime longevity do you have to be in order to believe he's suddenly become top-5 because he won his X'th title at 38 (yes, even as a very good 38 y.o) while playing for the most well-run and professional team of the 21st century? Thing is, if Duncan wasn't considered anywhere very near top-5 back in 2007, there's no good reason to believe he's become that now.

And he still managed to wipe the floor with your hero's face at nearly 40 years of age.
Sad case...
