Default 1,001 posts+Dr.J vs Hakeem

Yeah, 1,000+1 posts is not much of a big deal and I realize it-I'm however somewhat satisfied I made it this time, as I don't post much here and the previous board changed server when I was at 9 hundred-something...

So, to make it more interesting, I'll add a player comparison question: When I compile all-time lists, one of the hardest tasks comes around #10, when having to pick between Olajuwon vs Doctor. When we compare NBA careers alone, it's pretty easilt Hakeem. Actually, it's hard for Doctor to make it above #17-20. But the ABA years can't be neglected.

Look at both the stats and the accolades. And of course, at the cultural impact of Erving.

The ABA's quality of guards and centers was inferior to the NBA's. But the forwards were there: Erving, Barry, Cunningham, Gervin (could play at SF), Issel...Connie Hawkins was there in 1968-69.

Default Re: 1,001 posts+Dr.J vs Hakeem

Congrats on having reached 1k posts. It'll take at least three server changes for me to reach it.

Dr.J brought to the NBA what is now considered the heart and soul of contemprary basketball showmanship. So I can understand him being considered a top ten basketball icon/legend of alltime.

But considering the player who took that art to the next level won't even crack the top50 (Carter, in case any missed it), I don't think that's enough for me to consider him on Hakeem's legendary status. Not far from him, maybe a notch or two below but I certainly won't put him on the same pedestal.
