If you have money on games or fantasy players its the best thing ever. If you're a homer its probably great too but i wouldn't know.

Otherwise i'd agree it can be pretty boring unless its a good matchup. Theres too many breaks in football, and sometimes stuff like injuries or challenges drag out forever. I overall prefer NBA way more than NFL, but nothing really beats NFL in terms of hype and buildup for each weeks games. Its so marketed, and such a periodic seasonal sport that nothing i've followed comes close in terms of American sports media.

This is pretty funny, because most Americans say the same thing about Soccer.

Another point I'd add to what Thorp and mlh said are the rivalries that go on within the NFL. I absolutely hate the Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins. Doesn't matter if they're 0-16 or Super Bowl champs, I hate them just the same. And every time the Eagles play them I want to make them cry. This feeling isn't as strong in other sports. I have no real feelings towards the Sixers' division guys like Boston, NY, or NJ. They're the same to me as the western conference teams.

This is true, the NFC South is like a box of chocolates. Perhaps the most enigmatic of all divisions in the NFL.

How can you not love football, most notably the NFL? I suppose the same can be said for the US's lack of interest in soccer in global comparison.

What's so damn great about watching men run back and forth on a huge field all damn day and 5 hours later the score is 0-0. A bunch of girly men playing footsie.

Also, I think knowing the players (who's good, who's bad, who to root for/against, etc.) adds to the entertainment. If you don't know who anyone is, then it's harder to follow and is less exciting because you don't have as much vested in the game.

I'm not a big Football fan... but I enjoy the hard hits and kickoff/punt returns.

To our foreign posters... If you don't like American football, tell me why...

You cannot win in the NBA without a Nike ordained, HOF material, international superstar.

Whereas in the NFL you can win with guts, luck, d-fence and a journeyman qb (Jeff Garcia, Kurt Warner, Brad Johnson, Rich Gannon etc.)
