Doing something you don't particularly like for the long-term benefits is pretty damn smart and commendable.

Almost every person I talk to who didn't go to college regrets it. For the people who did go to college and got a degree, they stress how important it is. There's a reason for that.

School/work is where the majority of relationships stem from. Friends, occupation, tangible success(money) = happiness. Even if you have to struggle through all the bullshit you hate doing.

The fact is, teens of every generation are dipshits who think they know everything. Work ethic and civic duty seem to be on the decline. More kids raising kids these days with both parents in the work place and/or separated. General sense of community seems to be on the decline as well. It's interesting how people think they're so connected with their facebook and twitter... but probably don't even know their neighbors names, or who owns the business's they shop at on a daily basis.
