I think Tyson is another icon.
Was there a single kid on the courts from 90-96 that didn't have their tongue hanging out their mouth trying to emulate MJ? I never saw one that wasn't.

Only Wilt, Kareem and Jordan contend with Russell. Magic, if you stretch it.
Basketball in the 60s simply wasn't a mature sport, what kind of coaching would one have recieved in the 40s/50s, few teams, 70% of the league was white and under 6'6, 80% of black people lived in poverty where making ends meet was more important than playing sports, etc. etc. etc.
Bullshit. Your height estimate figures are off. Few teams mean nothing as far as competition goes and black people living in poor areas and excelling later in basketball isn't something that ended when Russell's era ended. Whites have always been living under more wealthy/healthy conditions and the NBA is nowhere near a "rich kid's league".
Russell played in a weak era. I know some people don't want to accept that but it's the damn truth.
A player like JR Smith or Tristan Thompson would a star in that era.
No such crap is truth unless you prove so.
Not a goddamn chance those 60s Celtics win multiple titles in any other decade post-ABA merger IMO. They'd get wrecked by the 80s Lakers, 76ers, Celtics, Pistons (take your pick) and wouldn't even be competitive against the 90s Bulls or Shaq-Kobe Lakers.
Right, they "wouldn't even be competitive" against teams that weren't anywhere near as deep as they were. Let me guess, you won't be on the analogous boat when in 2030 (or even nowadays) someone claims that the 90's Bulls wouldn't even be competitive against the 2030 NBA, because, you think that basketball development stopped somewhere in the 80's or the 90's and from then on, it either remains unchanged or moves backwards, right?

It is a learning process. Just how you learnt only 2 or 3 weeks ago that Payton didn't guard Jordan for the first 3 games of the 1996 NBA finals.
Stanning a player you never actually saw play.

You mean riding the pine for half the game, because his shooting is off once he faces tougher defenses?
For real, though, the Warriors during these playoffs didn't show sophisticated basketball. The make 1 pass and then it's either a three point attempt or the paint is open. They thrive on the defenses' expectation that everyone can shoot and has to be defended like it. This also means that Curry can have off nights and disappear for stretches without the Warriors getting into deep drouble. They still have others that open the floor with their 3threes. Most other teams go down with their first option, the Warriors don't and that doesn't have anything to do with Curry sacrificing stats and more with the team make up.
