Seconded. Especially after the EXTENSIVE disscussion there has been on ISH about how carpetbagger bennett intentionally set the bar where he knew the voters wouldn't go for it.
You can blame it on whoever you want but even Stern had no faith in your ability to build a new stadium.
- The city of Seattle had just funded two other stadiums.
- They have KeyArena, and it's big enough, it just needed rennovation, costing at most about $150 million.
- Despite this, Bennett demanded that the city pay $500 million for a brand new arena 3 miles outside of city limits.
- And despite all of that, a paltry $126 million rennovation was what was acceptable from the city of OKC.
Using Stern to show how Bennett isn't a douche is like using Jack the Ripper to show that Charles Manson isn't that violent.

The current status of the Ford Center is miles ahead of Key. Thats why a 126M rennovation is taking place here.
Stop crying like a little baby. Seattle had their chance and blew it...yawn
No need for this, don't lose the sympathy that seattle fans have. You were too cheap to build a new arena, plain and simple.
No, Seattle is too smart to let David Stern blackmail.
Just wait and see, within 5 years, you Okie Dokies are going to be asked to fork out $1 billion to build a new arena for Clay Bennett. This had happened over and over in pro sports. And it's especially true when David Stern is at the top.

This kind of stupid thinking is one of the biggest reasons why Seattle lost their team. When it comes to predicting the outcome of current events, Seattlites really suck. They have been consistantly wrong on every detail of the Sonics demise for the last three years.
The Ford Center won't even be finished until 2010. Name one other situation where a major league team demanded a new facility three to five years after the current venue was finished. The whole premise is idiotic. Hell, the Key remodel was one of the worst mistakes made on a sports venue in history and it would have lasted 15 years if Seattle had just agreed to replace it at the end of the lease.
Our remodel should last at least as long as the Key did and we will be ready to build a new arena around 2025.
Seattle chose to not replace the obsolete Key arena because the majority of the people there couldn't care less about the Sonics. They weren't even willing to continue some very small hotel and rental car taxes that have zero impact on anyones everyday life to save the team.
Seattle made a choice and if they had of made the same choice with the Mariners and Seahawks they would have lost them too. It was their choice......end of story.
