Talking DeMarcus Cousins gets a Technical for Travelling

Quote:
Wall, 20, showed off the freak athleticism that made him the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NBA draft, speeding up and down the court to score a game-high 41 points. He even showed off a long-range jumper that he’s been working on this offseason, one of his weaker areas that needed improvement. A few three-pointers in the first half helped Baltimore’s Finest leap out to a 74-56 lead at halftime.

“I’ve been working on it, so I’m getting more comfortable [shooting from range],” Wall told the AFRO. “I just have to keep working and working.”

Wall wasn’t the only player on Baltimore’s Finest to get hot with outside shooting. Former Morgan State University standout guard Reggie Holmes also showed off for the fans, scoring 25 points which included nailing several long-range three-pointers, a few from as far away as 30 feet from the basket.

Holmes, MSU’s all-time leading scorer, told the AFRO he’ll play overseas this year. He said he has five different offers from Euro League teams, but hasn’t decided where he’ll go yet.

Former Towson University player Gary Neal, who now plays for the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, also contributed to Baltimore’s Finest total, scoring 14 points.

Baby Shaq, a former member of the famous “And-1” basketball team, led the Sweat Mob with 34 points in the losing effort. He was followed by NBA player DeMarcus Cousins with 29 points. Cousins, the 5th overall pick in the 2010 draft, had a tough game, picking up a technical foul in the first half after tossing the ball outside the gym door in frustration after being called for traveling.

Other Goodman League action July 2 included the Oohs and Aahs squad blowing out the DMV Ballers, 117-73. Backyard Bball barely edged Madness, 115-114, in an earlier game.

The Goodman League will return to action on Tuesday July 5, when the Face Mob takes on Team Ullico at 5 p.m., followed by a game between Third Eye and Shooters at 7 p.m. Both games will be played at the league’s original outdoor court located in D.C.’s Barry Farms neighborhood.
