    Just by reading the title of the thread alone and before even reading, the first player that came to my mind was Russell Westbrook.

    He came off the bench behind Darren Collison. Both are in the NBA (or is Collison still in the NBA?) and Westbrook is totally having a better NBA career than Collison.

    But...Westbrook doesn't fit OP's criteria.
