Default The first five Jazz games

How do you think the Jazz will do during their first five games? In the past I'd say they they've picked it up pretty quick at the very beginning. Maybe they just gel a little bit better at the start of the season. Maybe not. What's your input.

@ Phoenix
Golden State
@ New Jersey

Personally, I think it's a good thing that they're playing some better teams during this stretch where things tend to look up.

Everyone of those games are there for the taking and they do seem to get going quicker than other teams.

I think 20 games in will give us a good gauge of where they are for the season.

Houston is one heck of a team now that they got Bonzi and a healthy T-Mac. We'll be lucky to hang in there somehow. Who can stop Yao? Houston wins by 10.

Phoenix is, well, Phoenix. Luckily, they didn't improve even more during the offseason. Phoenix by 5 to 10.

Golden State is there for the taking; although Don Nelson will surely improve the team, it's too early in the season for his system to have a noticeable effect on the team's effectiveness. Jazz by 15.

Detroit... we'll still have to see how well they'll do without their interior anchor. And this season, in a game of defense against defense, I'm all for the Jazz. Jazz by 5 to 10.

New Jersey depends on who AK guards. As soon as Vince gets in a few points, AK has to guard him, or the S will hit the F. Booze shouldn't have any problems against the Nets' big men. Jazz by 10.

So I'm predicting a 3-2 for Utah in five rather heavy games.

I have come to the same conclusion... But if Bonzi and the Rockets take a few games to get comfortable with each other, this game could be the Jazz' for the taking. Not to mention the reports out of Phoenix that Amare's knee has begun to stiffen up already...

Houston - win it by 10 or more
@ Phoenix - because it's in PHX, I'd say close loss, less than 5 points
Golden State - easy win at home, 15-20 points or better
Detroit - The Jazz have had Detroit's number the last couple years. Win by 5
@ New Jersey - Nets aren't what they used to be. D-Will will handle JKidd. Look for the Jazz to win this one by 10.

So, 4-1 to start the season. Not too shabby. Go Jazz!!
