Truth.

But Kobe played against shitty teams. I'm just preparing you for this comment.

Why do you insist on doing this?

Is this really Kobe's 81? I thought he scored more than this in the first half.

I'd rather mow the lawn if this isn't Kobe's 81.

My day is complete. Someone came along with the Kobe > MJ argument.

Peace out!

Care to compare their playoff performances? You know, the part of the NBA that counts the most? I didn't think so.

The Raptors were leading going into the second half, that's when Kobe took over. Just watch the 2nd half.

kobe is so incredible in this game. i didn't see it live - saw the replay - and it still just gave you a chill to see someone THAT zoned in on offense. every little gap he got he just rose up and buried it. from everywhere. nobody catches fire the way kobe catches fire.

I didn't see it live either. I saw part of the first half and Kobe was having a regular game, so I got bored and went to bed. The next morning to woke up and turned on the News and in the sports section it said Kobe scored 81 points. I thought it was a typo. Looking back at that game and watching all 81 points he scored, it was amazing. He almost couldn't miss. I saw the counter for all 81 points and once it hit about 65 or so, I was in total awe. Then he just kept scoring and scoring... amazing performance.

Truth.

Not really. Two related points:

- These 4 teams had an average record of 31-51 (.378); they ranked 26th, 22nd, 30th, and 15th in defense out of 30 teams.

- Of Kobe's 18 games of 40+ points this season, only 3 were vs. teams above .500. Those 3 were 50+ point efforts (two vs. Houston and one vs. Utah), and only one of those was a truly great game (19-26 FG for 52 points vs. Utah); in the other two, he used 51 and 46 possessions to net 53 points, which is a pretty poor ratio. So Kobe only had one truly impressive game (and it was very impressive) of 40+ points against a winning team this season. One.

As for those 4 games being better than any 4 consecutive games from Jordan, well, no...not really. Here are a few streaks of 4 straight games from Jordan that I'd pretty easily take over Kobe's all things considered:

1989 Playoffs:

44 pts, 7 reb, 10 ast
50 pts, 3 reb, 4 ast
44 pts, 9 reb, 6 ast
38 pts, 10 reb, 12 ast

40 pts, 15 reb, 9 ast
47 pts, 11 reb, 6 ast
38 pts, 8 reb, 10 ast
40 pts, 5 reb, 10 ast

Note: Playoffs, vs. 57 win Cavs and 52 win Knicks

1990 Playoffs:

45 pts, 8 reb, 7 ast
49 pts, 5 reb, 5 ast
45 pts, 6 reb, 11 ast
37 pts, 9 reb, 8 ast

Note: Playoffs vs. 53 win Philly 76ers

1993 Finals:

42 pts, 12 reb, 9 ast
44 pts, 9 reb, 6 ast
55 pts, 8 reb, 4 ast
41 pts, 7 reb, 7 ast

Note: Finals vs. 62 win Suns

1989 Regular Season:

31 pts, 13 reb, 10 ast
40 pts, 7 reb, 11 ast
40 pts, 10 reb, 12 ast
47 pts, 11 reb, 13 ast

Average Record of Opponent: 52-30 (.642)

1987 Regular Season:

34 pts, 6 reb, 10 ast
53 pts, 4 reb, 8 ast
50 pts, 9 reb, 4 ast
61 pts, 10 reb, 1 ast

Average Record of Opponent: 48-34 (.585)

1990 Regular Season:

69 pts, 18 reb, 6 ast
49 pts, 12 reb, 4 ast
47 pts, 6 reb, 7 ast
29 pts, 4 reb, 10 ast

Average Record of Opponent: 37-45 (.451 - pretty poor comp, but still better than the crap teams Kobe abused; this was the Cavs, Knicks, Pacers, and Heat btw)

So yeah...call me when Kobe does something in the playoffs, or makes noise against good (or heck, even winning) teams.
