Although the Knicks will probably try and get these players as well.

Well I still think Joe is a achievable target. They brought in Jamal Crawford who seems to be limiting his touches and performance out there and I think the Hawks have really peaked as a team.

As for Gay, I'm a fan but I don't know exactly how he's going to fit. He's more of a 3 and we have Terrence/CDR there so I don't see it unless we slide one of them to the 2. Each of them has the athleticism, but I kinda like a player that has a consistent 3 point shot. Gay would help the team, but he wouldn't propel this team to maybe even playoff status. I'd like to get a proven winner and leader for the team with all the money we've been cutting from the system. To trade away Carter, Kidd, RJ, etc. etc. and to only get back Devin Harris, Rudy Gay, Courtney Lee, and Yi would be disappointing.

We have to aim higher than that. Rudy should be a back up to any that falls through.

the nets are going to be a premiere destination in the NBA. it won't completely happen overnight, but all the pieces are in place to make it happen within a couple years. star FA's and their agents would be foolish not to consider this.

the knicks are going to be our little brothers within a couple years, and why would any of the stars prefer the little brother? more likely they would choose to stay home, which offers them a larger contract monetarily than switching teams.

I agree that finally having an owner committed to winning is going to immensely help the team, but I just don't see the BK Nets being more popular than the Knicks. They still have richer tradition, a bigger fan base, and MSG optimally located in the heart of Manhattan. It'd have to take a lot of winning by us and a guy like LeBron to get people to defect over. Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if it'd happen, but I don't know right now.

agreed, i'm not sure if the nets will ever be more popular than the knicks. but here's the thing... if a FA isn't purely worried about popularity he'll see that we have:

- the richest owner in pro sports
- the most modern facility in the game (given a year or two)
- one of the top two markets in US sports
- more cap room than any other team
- more draft picks than any other team over the next several years, including the best shot at the #1 next year
- a great young center, one of the hardest positions to fill in the game. (harris is not far behind at his position, either)

the knicks can only match one of those (NYC) and come close in one other (cap room). plus, if we're talking lebron, we've got jay-z.

of course if the prokhy deal falls through then we're utterly and totally screwed. but that should all be resolved during this winter, for good or for ill.

All I know is that Brook Lopez and Devin Harris are studs. Add one more very good young star to this team and then a good 6th man and they are good to go.

Well I was thinking that if we were to get a stud-like swing like a LeBron, Wade, or Joe Johnson we could plug CDR as a 6th man as a scoring punch.

A lot of NBA writers acknowledge the fact that the Nets aren't the worst team in the league. They commend Frank for the work he's done with what he's been given. They've been playing with half of a roster. I believe that if they had been even remotely healthy, they'd have 4-5 wins right now.

Getting the top pick is far from a guarantee for the worst team in the lottery.

ur right, its not guaranteed, however if im not mistaken there is a 25% chance at that pick, and the worst position that we could take would be pick#4. Regardless of how it plays out we will be 1-4. The teams that will be in the top 4 are Nets, Pacers, Wolves, and Golden State or the KINGS (as it stands now)

Here's where things get interesting because if the Wolves or Golden State gets the #1 pick, will they draft John Wall? The Wolves have Johnny Flynn, Ricky Rubio next year, and Sessions. Do they really need Wall or would they drfat wall and trade flynn? but wat about rubio? Too many questions not enough answers, i doubt they take Wall. Golden State would also be in a situation because they have Stephen Curry who will probably be an all star some day. How will Wall and Curry/ Plus Ellis play together? Wall is not a 2 guard... or is he? again too many questions.

The problem that the Nets face is the Pacers...or even the wizards if they keep losing. The Pacers actually need a PG...really bad. If they get the #1 pick they will take Wall...then again they way Bird drafts, it would probably be Cole Aldrich or Kyle Singler. Who knows what will happen

I know, that's why it's hilarious. It wasn't "as bad some say or predict", it was actually worse.

I can't stop laughing at how wrong I was with this post. This will go down as my worst post ever! "I say no way" to the worst team in the league? Turns out they are fighting not to be the worst team of all time!
This was written when I was still delusional and trying to convince myself that the NETS were not so bad. I STILL say the foundation looks good.

IMO, were better then the Bucks, Kings, and Knicks. Were probably not making to much noise but I think we'll impress some people.
