whats the difference between the va billing medicare or private insurance? Im not sure how I really feel about it, since the OP really doesnt give any detail, but why not charge private insurance companies for procedures done to their clients. what the hell else is insurance for? but again, id like to see the actual details of this plan.

There really isn't a lot of detail on it, it's from the preliminary budget. VA's budget is to be increased by ~$5b, partly coming from this. As for the difference between billing medicare/private insurance, I honestly don't know, just one of the potential outcomes I've seen bandied about.

Here is the difference. The VA system was created to treat veterans, specifically injured veterans and help them with life after the military. If injured veterans are forced to use their private insurance instead of the VA system that was intended for them, then most veterans will ultimately see their rates go up for their private insurance, which most often covers them and their family as well.

What happens when a veteran goes over his max on his private insurance while being treated for service-connected disabilities and has no health insurance available for his entire family, for the rest of the year??? that is certainly a strong possibility.

The bottom line is that the VA serves to treat veterans, if you pass the dole on to private insurers, then you are simply ****ing over anyone and everyone who suffered a major injury while on duty, and potentially raising private insurance rates for all veterans across the board.

but I thought you were against big government? shouldnt we privatize out veterans affairs? cant have it both ways buddy, its either limited govt power and expenditure or the whole shebang.

I find it laughable that you would act like others are *******s for not googling links while you always post some **** ripped off some biased site without links so your thread wont get discredited immediately. Its poor taste, poor citizenship and plagiarizing to post these stories without a source.

Fresno, Ca.-Valley Veterans are upset over a proposed plan to shift the cost of caring for America's wounded warriors from Veteran's Administration to their own pocket.

"This is unacceptable to us. We're not going to allow it to happen," said Charlie Waters.

Former US Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Charlie Waters is now a judge advocate for the American Legion in the Central Valley.

He's angry over a plan outlined by President Obama to save up to $540 million by having wounded US Servicemen and women pay for their own medical care, rather than the government.

"The man avoided the moral issue. Sir, you owe it to the veteran's in action who were wounded to take care of them, " said Waters.

For more than a century it has always been that way when an American soldier gets hurt in combat; he comes home, and the VA covers his war injuries.

He may also pay for his own private health insurance, but President Obama is now proposing a plan to charge those companies to treat his wounds.

But veterans say if companies have to start paying for combat wounds, it'll raise their premiums and discourage small businesses from hiring injured veterans with huge health care costs.

Meaning vets themselves could end up paying the price.

Disabled veteran William Dietzel says he is personally worried for other vets and retirees like himself.

"It affects me being a retired individual. I'm 75-years-old but it's always on your fixed income. If they do this, it's going to affect me financially."

I think that if you are willing to suit up for your country and put yourself in harm's danger, the least the nation owes you is to care for the injuries that you suffer while on duty. VA care does not provide limitless care, it provides care for those who were injured while on service or have service-connected disabilities. That's not big government, that's just common sense. The VA system itself is pretty ****ty, with a lot of wait times and what not, but for a lot of these guys, it is all they have.

The subject is about Obama, dumbass.

Obama and everyone else in the senate that voted for it have as much blame as Bush.

Obama is getting called out for it b/c he ran his whole "anti-big business" and "go little people" campaign and then voted for this bailout for BIG BUSINESS.

Use some logic. Jesus Christ.

He's in charge, its his mess. That is the way it works. If you're in charge, you get the credit for a lot of **** you didn't do, you also get the blame for a lot of other stuff. In the case of the bailouts, Obama was one of the major players that helped push them through. He's as responsible for the bailouts as Bush, Paulson and Reid.

sure, he helped bring dems to the bush admins plan. but again, why is he being singled out? Its faulty reasoning to blame him as a major instigator of the bailout. the blame lies with both the admin and congress at the time who pushed a terrible package through. Not one senator.

Then don't read it, like I care, but before you doing anything, go outside and take the stick out of your ass before you cause any further damage to your rectal area.
