yes he does... he is on a one year contract and the lakers used early bird rights to sign him so his contract has a built in no trade clause... there would have to be a waiver by brown, the only way he does this is if memphis offers up a whopper of an extension

crap, not sure if Memphis will allow a trade like this twice
Whether Ron is here or not after the summer of 2012, this is something that we Laker fans will never forget.
We love Ron Artest. Everything he has given to this organization, won't be around for long (at least probably not his entire contract) but we won't forget what he gave us last season. Put us over the hump for that 2nd straight ring. Lets see who steps up this time for the 3-peat! Hope it will be Barnes or Blake. Bit pessimistic here, but also optimistic about our new guys.

Its very interesting to note that the only difference about most of our views on Brown bet Dec and Now was that Shannon was hitting his shots 2 months ago while now he is struggling, thats it. I can't say, Im not frustrated with him esp his defense but whose to say if he can get out of this shooting slump and regain his shooting form.
2 playoffs ago, the guy was shooting as well as Trevor Ariza, not a few wondered why he was not playing more mins.
I think this is a great time for Kobe to "work his magic" pull him aside, give him some pep talk, spend more time on shoot arounds, explain the schemes etc. Take Shannon, Blake etc under his wing. The next couple of months would be crucial IMO.

I am not worried about his shot coming back. I am more worried about him jacking up shots while we have 2 of our bigs in the game and they have higher % of making those shots.
I am more worried about the pathetic Defense he plays and the disappearing act he puts up in Big games and road games...thats whats really frustrating. If you see him defending..he never raises his hands as his guy shoots the ball....and so on and on....
if we could trade him for Mayo....we should no matter if he was hitting 50% from the 3 point line...cause this is his ceiling...while Mayo has much much more
Re: Article:Lakers' struggles have Kupchak ready to make moves / Trade Rumors
why are you making a trade suggestion that is not possible? do you really think the Lakers want Hinrich's contract? Do you really think the Wizards want Artest's contract?

Hinrich has 2 years left and expires at the end of next season. Lakers also get rid of Ron Artest's 4 year contract and get Josh Howard as an expirer. If he works out great, if not, they let him walk at the end of this season.
Both players are upgrades. Lakers would be taking in 12 mill in salary this season, but they're also shedding 10.5 mill salary by trading Ron and Blake. So it's really 1.5 mill they're adding, which is 3 mill total with luxury.
