I would also like to mention that I've finally found a drummer that I can say sounds exactly like Bonzo. I wouldn't change a thing. Mind you, I've been watching videos like this for years, and have never been satisfied.

He's captured John Bonham's revolutionary power groove style perfectly. He hits the ghost notes with ease, and most importantly, he swings with it.

I could listen to this for days.

The list of people he played with / for is staggering. And I know for a fact that the wiki entry is incomplete in that regard on his page.

Still one of the weirdest/oddest beats to a straight up rock song I've ever heard in my life. Track one, album one. What a way to introduce yourself to the world, Bonzo.

And he was what, 19 when it was recorded? F*cking 19 years old.

idris is one of my favourites. his album 'power of soul' is just about one of the dopest rekkids i've ever bought.

'piece of mind'

'loran's dance' (grover washington jr did a cover of this track that was sampled by tribe, but i prefer idris' version)

ranking the bands mentioned in the OP:

1-Parliament / Funkadelic
2-James Brown / The JBs
3-Earth, Wind and Fire
4-Isley Brothers
5-Kool & the Gang
6-Ohio Players
7-Rick James
8-Sly & the Family Stone
9-Cameo

edit: madrill is dope too, props to momo

I'm sorry, I'm kind of ignorant about funk and I would like to know if Jamiroquai qualifies as funk or is it something else?

I would call Jamiroquai post hip hop Funk/Disco/Soul. They can pull off a wide range of grooves / feels from Reggae to House, but Funk and Disco are them doing what they do best. Hip Hop and House clearly influence the sound. But time warp them into the 70's and they would fit right in... just with different window dressing. And they have a slightly neo traditionalist bent, so the modern sounds are never over shadowing the roots of what they play.

(Edit to add)

Also, calling them Pop is perfectly credible. Some funk or disco outfits are clearly not pop. But the two definitions are not mutually exclusive.
