I'm still baffled why they passed up Lionel Hollins. He is a coach with a great resume and experience coaching successful teams with a similar makeup of what Lakers could potentially have. Of course, Memphis had better defensive players like Marc, ZBo, T.Allen, Prince but offensively Lakers have a very similar team + higher scoring team.

Not sold on Byron Scott.

And if they had been sold on Byron Scott, we probably wouldn't have drafted Randle. Who, still in my opinion, is a steal at the #7 pick.

If we were getting Melo+Lebron (the not happening scenario) then maybe Byron Scott would have made sense.

I agree, I don't know why we don't have a coach still, I wonder if we should ask Mitch to coach the team as interim and just screw the season so we can get another good pick next year while some other coach gets let go.

Kevin Ollie probably wouldn't be a bad choice after we fall out on all the big name FA.

we are probably going to end up either trading for another coach, or offer another team's assistant coach our head coaching position at this rate though.

Default Would you want Byron Scott to coach Lakers?

Kobe Bryant feels great, would welcome Byron Scott as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, would love to play alongside free agent Carmelo Anthony and is pleased with the moves of the team's front office so far.

At least that's how the All-Star guard presented things at UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, where Bryant is hosting his annual youth basketball camp.

But for anybody hoping for definitive answers, Bryant had nothing to offer.

Sure. Who else is out there that is somewhat credible at this point?

I would have loved to see Lionel Hollins. At this point we're just fans. What can we do?

It's not paying off.......

They should have hired him to set the mood for everyone.

I don't think it mattered in the end. Right now it's irrelevant who they hire. The Lakers are going to be bad.

I would opt for Kobe as player-coach with Scott and Fox as assitants.
