Default LeBron: no time to waste' for Cavaliers to win championship

I have no time to waste,” the 30-year-old James said. He repeated that line. “I have no time to waste.

"My ultimate goal is to win a championship, and it starts now.

Last season at this time, James preached patience, saying younger teammates with minimal or no playoff experience needed time.

But after reaching the NBA Finals and losing to the Golden State Warriors in six games without Kevin Love for the entire series and Kyrie Irving for the final five games of the series, James understands urgency is just as important as patience.

“You extract your individual ego for the team ego, for the better of the ultimate goal and that’s to get better every single day and each month you continue to grow and hopefully you put yourself in a position in June to compete for a championship.”

Yes, we have talent, and yes we did something pretty good last year,” James said. “But that doesn’t mean anything this year. So we’ve got to work just as hard. We’ve got to prepare just as smart and we’ve got to go out and be a team that’s together at all time.

“I’m very excited with what we’ve done so far,” he said of general manager David Griffin’s offseason moves. “Mo Williams, Richard Jefferson and Sasha Kaun, that’s huge. To be able to re-sign Kevin Love and bring back Swish (J.R. Smith) and Shump (Iman Shumpert), that’s huge for our team. When Kyrie (Irving) gets healthy, that’s going to be big time.”

James also lamented a notable absence from media day – forward Tristan Thompson, who must either sign a $6.9 million, one-year qualifying offer or reach a longer deal by Thursday’s deadline.

“He’s a huge piece of our team and obviously he showed that to the world how important he is to our team during the postseason,”

James shot 41.2% in the playoffs, including 39.8% in a Finals in which he averaged 35.8 points, 13.3 rebounds and 8.8 assists.

“The numbers that I put up in the Finals, I pretty much didn’t care for because I was so inefficient,” James said. “It hurts me. It bothered me a lot.”

    I love lebron like this.

Even with a shitty cast from a cheap owner and terrible gm, hes still aiming for the top and a championship.

    GOAT gonna GOAT.

Didnt D rose say he cared more about his son's graduation than playing for the Bulls?

And he's supposed to be your franchise player?

Which is funny because the young kids were traded away to appease Lebron.

    How do you miss that?

How did you miss that 'kid Bennett' wasn't able to be givin' away 2wks ago after being traded from Clev. to Minny over a year ago?

Well, to be fair, of the group of young guys who said he was excited to play with, only Dion Waiters has been traded. He'll need an attitude adjustment and change in playing style in order to be a long-term success (needs to accept he's a 5th option/bench sparkplug type who could make lots of money using his talents to become a better defender and shooter). Don't forget moving Dion helped them land Mozgov, too.

Wiggins & Bennett weren't included in that letter/PR campaign. Bennett was going to be 3rd string this year in Minny (behind a declining Pekovic and KG in his twilight years). Wiggins is on the track to be a big star.

Cleveland traded two net-negative players and one budding star in order to stack the deck for now. A healthy Cleveland would have won last year imo and is in the mix this upcoming season.

Like its bad or something anyways? 2 championships, 2 fmvps, 7 Finals/eastern conference championships (many where he raped your team).... not bad... certainly beats 0 Finals...... but you as a Bulls fan dont know what winning multiple championships is and trying to win a championship in Finals is since 1998 so....
