Rudy is one of the best players in the league rather anyone likes the idea or not

The French Basketball Federation, FFBB, announced that Rudy Gobert is the 2019 recipient of the Alain Gilles Trophy. The annual award goes to the French Player of the Year, male or female. NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year for the second season in a row spent 2019 with the Utah Jazz and helped France capture bronze in the FIBA World Cup. – via EuroHoops.net

He should have won this for the past several years I'd think

A player who, at one time, was considered the great hope of a franchise, or one of them anyway.

a player that was chosen over their best player and has never came close to that player

He grew up before our eyes, from a greenhorn that needed to work a little harder to a seasoned vet and the very definition of a professional. He came at a discount rate and sacrificed some of his best years in service of his team and the development of its cornerstone in Rudy Gobert. When Gordon whatshisname left, he stayed.

a discount? Probably was the highest paid backup center in the league

I’m particularly concerned about the team’s D when Gobert takes a breather. For the last several years, Derrick Favors did a beautiful job of holding court in those situations. Now, he’s gone, and while Ed Davis brings a lot to the table as far as his rebounding and position D go, he offers only a fragment of the rim protection that D-Faves brought.

They have sucked without Rudy. This year they might actually be good without him. Their bench will be playing with Conley or Mitchell and Bojan or Gobert I imagine

https://www.ksl.com/article/46654347...signed-by-jazz

Quote:
So does the signing mean that Collinsworth will soon be playing at Vivint Arena? Maybe — but not likely. Collinsworth probably won’t be fighting for the 15-man regular-season roster, but Utah does have four affiliate roster spots (along with another two two-way deal that the team has already used to sign draft picks Jarrell Brantley and Justin Wright-Foreman). While the terms of the deal weren’t released, it seems reasonable that Collinsworth will take one of those affiliate spots.

He actually might make as much sense for the 15th spot as Howard or Kidd. He's better than Exum

Quote:
It’s also possible that Bluitt ends up taking one of those four affiliate spots, too. With a full 15-man roster, plus two two-way players and four affiliates, that equals a maximum of 21 players. But only 20 are allowed in training camp at a time.

Bluitt, Collingsworth, Morgan, Mike Scott? or Kidd or Howard?

Quote:
Unfortunately, Jazz fans know the story from there all too well – injury after injury, setback after setback. Exum has shown glimpses, most certainly, of the sky-high potential that earned him such high lottery praise. But an inability to remain on the court has dramatically hindered his chances at success.

stop with the excuses. He has sucked

Quote:
Heading into the 2019-20 season, once again there has been cautious optimism about Dante Exum’s return and ability to play a meaningful role for his team. Sure, the fact that he hasn’t been able to suit up for any preseason games as he looks to work out the last steps of his arduous rehab process has been disconcerting. But the general consensus was that he should very well be ready for the start of the regular season on October 23rd.

where's that come from? He wasn't even jumping last I heard

Quote:
The Salt Lake Tribune’s Andy Larsen and KSL’s Ben Anderson were quick to describe a brief and intense scene that broke out in practice. Apparently while playing in a 2-on-2 bout alongside Jarrell Brantley against Miye Oni and the recently signed Kyle Collinsworth, Exum took a spill on an Oni foul and he was not happy about it.

what a *****. Get rid of him for a bag of chips if you can

Quote:
Andy Larsen

@andyblarsen
To be clear, I don't think Exum got hurt on the play. Would say Oni/Collinsworth had the significant advantage over Exum/Brantley in the 5-10 mins we watched them play. Oni's so athletic, Collinsworth a very good defender. Exum looked tired, though still showed flashes of burst.

both are basketball players unlike Exum. Get him out of town please!

Quote:
Personally, unless we hear of any further or more intriguing developments, I have a feeling that this will blow over and that it was more or less two competitive guys going at one another with Exum getting flustered due to outcome, circumstance and recent setbacks. Dante knows that time is wearing thin for him to prove himself and that his inability to do so has largely been due to health factors outside of his control.

yeah he's only got two more years of 9 million a year coming

Andy Larsen: 2-on-2 game at practice today, Miye Oni and Kyle Collinsworth vs. Dante Exum and Jarrell Brantley. Really good battle, but it just broke up when Exum drove to the rim, was fouled by Oni, and Exum went to the ground. Exum got back up and was furious at Miye, stormed off the court. Honestly, I think Exum’s really frustrated… he doesn’t look like he’s at 100%. I thought Miye’s defense was fine… tough but clean. Probably a foul on the play but not dirty. – via Twitter andyblarsen

https://www.slcdunk.com/2019/10/14/2...ley-voted-12th

Quote:
Tony Bradley has been voted by you as the 12th most valuable player on the Utah Jazz roster. The University of North Carolina product is entering his 3rd year in the league and has spent most of his time with the SLC Stars so far. While his time in the G-league has been successful, he hadn’t yet shown enough to belong on the regular NBA roster.

He's been on an NBA roster because he belongs there.

Quote:
His almost-certain NBA skill is rebounding. He also appears to be a good finisher around the rim and his length lets him defend the rim decently well. He’s not particularly explosive and doesn’t have an outside shot, so his ceiling isn’t as high as other bigs his age. But if he can polish his inside game on both ends of the floor, Bradley could have a long career in the NBA as a backup center.

Quit talking about stuff you have no clue about. Anyone that's watched him with the Stars knows he can shoot from beyond 3. He has a deadly turn around from 20. Good on the offensive glass. Getting better.

Quote:
One could definitely make an argument that Derrick Favors’ No. 15 should eventually be retired by the Utah Jazz. He’s not the only one with a case for the honor.

there is no argument for it. The guy that go so he could not be the man Millsap doesn't even deserve it

Quote:
Say what you will, I say that’s the kind of player that should be honored by the franchise. Having said that, there’s actually a litany of other former Jazzmen who have similarly strong cases for seeing their numbers raised in banner form.

well ytou're an idiot. Already too many guys up there that shouldn't be. Should be stars only

Quote:
Honorable mention: Rickey Green* (No. 14)

at least he was one of the best players at his position for a few years on playoff teams unlike Favors

Quote:
The fact that he kept Stockton, arguably the greatest pure point guard in the history of the game, on the bench for the first three years of his career says all you need to know about what kind of player Green was. It’s too bad he’ll never see his own banner raised.

actually tells you more about what a crappy franchise and coach they had. Stockton should have started from day 1 and Ricky should have been traded. Instead they lost him in an expansion draft

Quote:
Still, Hayward remains a home-grown talent who worked his way from being the West Willie guy to big-time status as an All-Star and the face of the franchise.

Will never happen but Rudy was the man not Hayward anyway

Quote:
Aside from the less-than-awesome end to his tenure in Salt Lake City, I think the thing that keeps Williams’ No. 8 from going up is that he really only spent five full seasons with the team. That’s still enough to warrant consideration, but not quite enough to compensate for the baggage he brings to the table.

Other than the HOFers and Rudy he deserves it more than anyone

Quote:
Matt Harpring (No. 15)

Quote:
He gets bonus points for his continuing work with the organization as a broadcaster.

should lose points for that

Quote:
Bryon Russell (No. 3)

Quote:
If not for the presence of Boozer on the roster on the roster for the first several years of his career, there’s no telling what Paul Millsap could have accomplished during his time with the Jazz.

Again if not for a stupid franchise he would go down as one of their greats. He's no Favors or Harpring though!

Quote:
Along with Dirk Nowitzki, Memo changed the game as a floor-spacing big man. In doing so, he picked up an All-Star nod, helped the Jazz reach the Western Conference Finals and win multiple playoff series and developed a reputation for coming through in the clutch.

yeah he should be mentioned with Dirk!

Quote:
Memo may be my sentimental favorite, but if there’s one player here who I’m shocked didn’t see their number raised like 15 years ago, it’s Thurl Bailey.

surprised he isn't but shouldn't be. Great 6th man not enough sorry

Quote:
Frankly, the current Jazz could as another Andrei Kirilenko now.

they got him. Rudy!

Quote:
AK played 10 seasons and 681 games for the Jazz, averaging 12 points, six boards, three assists, two blocks and 1.4 steals per game. Along the way, he made an All-Star squad and was a three-time NBA All Defensive Team selection.

not enough

Deron and Rudy are the only ones not up there that should be right now

Secondly, the former New York Knick and Denver Nugget is likely slated to be the Jazz’s back-up point guard, at least initially.

We'll see tonite. He will be in the rotation at least until Exum is back rather he's at the 1 remains to be seen

http://saltcityhoops.com/counting-wings/

Quote:
In computer technology, there is a storage system called RAID, which stands for a “redundant array of inexpensive drives” that allows for enhanced reliability and performance by having multiple redundant storage drives in the system. Behind Joe Ingles and Bojan Bogdanovic, consensus top 100 players, the Jazz have assembled a RAIW system of wings. Green, O’Neale, Niang, Oni, Kidd and Howard are all on minimum or near-minimum contracts. Green and O’Neale have already proven themselves as rotation and near-starting caliber wings. Should any of the first four wings fail, there’s a system of potential quality wings right behind them ready to enhance the Jazz’s reliability and performance.

Need at least two more for the rotation and it would appear to be Niang and Mudiay until Exum is back or someone else steps up

Mudiay and no Niang tonite so that tells you George is probably out of the rotation when Exum returns
