Default Question for the NBA mind

I'm usually fairly good with how the NBA rules are now. Here's question though.....

Lets say in our Eastern Conference, the Central Division all have a winning record. That's 5 teams. Then Miami, Washington, and Orlando have winning records in the south east division. Now lets say the entire Atlantic has a losing record although someone is gonna win the division. If lets say Washington had the 8th best record in the EC, but Our Knicks won the Atlantic, who would make the playoffs, the Knicks or Washington? Considering the drama in the west last year with clips tanking their last couple of games to avoid a better opponent and Denver being 3rd seeded with 4 teams having better record. I'm sure the NBA officials weren't quite ready for this one.
So guys think about it and if you know the website that the answer can be reviewed at holla back. Peace. Lets go Knicks!

Default Good question

the way i see it...if we win the atlantic..we get the 4th seed...play washington and beat them in 6. Even though the records seem bad now..winning a division is something worth accounting for...the refs would obviously be bias AGAINST the knicks since we commit the most fouls in the NBA.. which is bs..ive seen every game and 45 percent of the calls are horrible...now its the better actress who gets the call, not the true punishment of the player who try and bend the rules

I'm pretty sure they made it so that the three division winners are guaranteed to be in top 4, with the next best record in there also. From there, they just rank them according to record. So, it could be lets say Detroit, Indiana, Miami, New York...if that would happen like that... I don't think that's how it will be, but if two from the same division have the best two records, the winner of the division gets the one spot, then the second place team there, if they had a better record than the other two division winner, would be seeded 2nd.

The 5-8 seeds would just be based on record. Winning the division guarantees a top 4.

yeah I'm still searching myself. under nba.com nba rules section it wasn't there either. but because of our weak division, the nba brains will probably go back to the table because if the atlantic division winner get a seed regardless of record then somebody with a winning record may be in the lottery

EXACTLY!!! The Nets won last night with little effort from Vince Carter. I feel a winning streak coming for them. The Nets are too dangerous.

Your right. thanx. espn gives playoff seeding next to the teams standings. right now toronto would be seeded 4th
