Default Evidence for Jordan as a d*ck?

    I've read this thread:
    http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=168038

And the classic stories of Jordan punching Kerr (), but other than that, are there any more documented cases of Jordan being a failure as a human being?

His HoF speech wasn't very nice or humble, either.

I should mention, I don't care in the slightest how athletes are off the court, but I'm trying to convince someone that Jordan wasn't a saint, and so far, the evidence above hasn't convinced him.

"Who was the better defender? Pippen was one of the best and most gifted defenders of all time. But MJ was the better defender. Michael could shut down anyone in the world for a 3 minute span. The best he’s ever seen. (I was pretty shocked by that, but man what does that tell you about MJ, unbelievable.) Jordan was the most ferocious competitor Bach has seen in all his years of basketball. Johnny said physically Jordan and Pippen were about the same as defenders. But when you add in MJ’s ruthlessness and trash talk, that put him ahead of Scottie.
When Johnny was coaching with the Hornets in 1995 they had a good team. Glen Rice, Mourning, Johnson. Series was tied at 2 and Hornets had a chance to win game 5 in Chicago. On the biggest possession of the game, Mugsy had the ball with the Hornets down 1. Jordan backed off of him and told him: “shoot it you f—ing midget.” Mugsy shot it, didn’t come close. A year later Mugsy actually told Johnny Bach that he believes that single play ruined his career. His shot never recovered.

Honestly if I had the first pick in a fantasy draft I'd not pick Jordan partly for that reason. It'd be hard not to,considering hes tied for my favorite player all time....but it's just a quality that I find disgusting and would much rather have someone like Chamberlain, Russell, Kareem and Possibly Magic.

He seemed so genuine and humble in his younger days, seems all the success and fame got to his ego. Sad really. Could never respect a guy like that.

"Evidence"? Is this something that was in need of proving? Was anyone arguing that Jordan wasn't a dick?

I found those funny. Especially the Stacey King one. You had to see him play. And Will Perdue was completely useless.

You'd much rather have someone like Chamberlain who was said to be very selfish and was accused of doing the same things Jordan did? The same guy who was calling out Jerry West? You'd rather have Russell who was notoriously nasty with many people? You'd rather have Kareem who was supposedly very standoffish and arrogant as well? Kareem, who couldn't even get along with Magic Johnson. Most of those guys are cocky to the point of being arrogant *****, but it has become popular to point out Jordan's shortcomings.

If I was starting a team I'd rather have people who are stern but don't lose their shit and ****ing punch a teammate. And, I value the Center and Point guard position more than I do any other so I think choosing a GOAT center would be the wiser choice. Just my opinion.

I'm not defending Jordan punching a teammate, which is indefensible but Kareem lost his shit in a game and punched an opposing player in the face. It also cost his team because he ended up breaking his hand and missing games. People can bring up the fact that Kareem put up with a lot of punishment and lost his cool but Jordan dealt with similar punishment, most obvious being the Pistons. The Pistons were consistently cheapshoting Jordan and he never lost his cool to that extent.

I remember reading some magazine awhile ago, maybe it was ESPN the magazine, during the Michael Jordan birthday week, there was a piece in a magazine where it talked about MJ being a prick to Bill Cartwright. At one point Cartwright threaten to break Jordan's legs. Or another incident happened where Will Perdue, yes that Will Perdue, set a hard screen on Jordan. Jordan was so pissed he punched Will Perdue in the face! And who can ever forget his epic rant against Kwame Brown years ago in a practice setting. Let's put it this way, Jordan questioned Kwame's manhood. Now remember Kwame was a young kid playing along side the GOAT. The kid never recovered. Was it Jordan's comments that did Kwame in? We will never know. But it had to hurt this young man's pride deeply.

I aint hating on Jordan he is the GOAT. But the dude was a prick back in the day.

Most NBA superstars can be labelled jerks.

Larry Bird has a daughter he refused to acknowledge and there are stories of him being a very cold person.

Magic Johnson slept with half the Los Angeles area and tried to get a coach fired.

Isiah Thomas ... needs no introduction to being an ass.

LeBron James tattooed "Chosen One" on his body before winning a damn thing. And then embarrassed Cleveland with his TV special.

Shaq could be a royal a-hole (lol) and had a huge jealous streak.

Kobe was an aloof walking hero complex.

The thing I do respect about MJ is his GAME did all his talking. He didn't talk himself up nor would he ever get a tattoo claiming he was the greatest or whatever.

Whatever hype he had from commercials -- he lived up to the hype and often times exceeded it. He wasn't a show off or a front runner. He put in the hard work to back up everything he did.

Sure he wasn't a teddy bear either, yes he talked trash on the court, yes he was hard on his teammates ... but I don't think he'd have six championships and be considered the GOAT if he didn't have that.

If you want a "nice guy" NBA superstar, go cheer for Chris Bosh.
