forget about getting another center to put next to duncan. oberto/elson will do fine.
what we are seriously lacking is a consistent scoring threat. we tend to go on these stretches where we cant score. these 4-5 minute scoring droughts puts us in 10-15 point deficits and we have to fight to get back into the game. sometimes we have this huge lead, then the scoring drought hits and suddenly its a tie game. we need that "i can catch fire at any given time" player. someone who can hit a shot or draw contact to put some points on the board.
I think we need a consistent scorer (to cut down on the droughts) and a big man (we're getting out-rebounded by teams on a nightly basis).
We got out-rebounded by Chicago without Ben Wallace and almost got out-rebounded by Houston w/o Yao. If we don't trade for a big man, Elson or Oberto needs to step up and be consistent both ends of the court.
We also need a quality backup PG. Teams are leaving Udrih and Vaugn wide open to double Ginoboli (knowing that they can't hit a shot). We got too many players who aren't looking to score so, when Duncan, Parker, Gino or Barry aren't hitting there's a major drought in the game.

pretty deep, just need do this:
have duncan set screen for parker, then big guy is on parker
play iso with parker and let him get the easy layup
since you have good shooters, you can plant all your shooters near the three point line, and if they help on parker, just pass to shooter and easy 3 pointer

The problem is not getting open shots (we get those all night). The problem is inconsistent outside shooting.

right now we lack HEART, DESIRE and HUSTLE and you can't trade for that.

good point. i think the spurs are banking on the theory the lakers had from 00-03. just coast and do enough to make the playoffs, and then turn it up a notch.
what iam afraid of is that we will try to turn it on the heat and end up getting burned.
this road trip will be the test. they showed they wanted to win in LA. hopefully this trend continues...

The only problem is the inconsistent outside shooting makes it easy for other teams to jam the middle.
we really need to get rid of horry...he sucks munkay bawls...hes getting old, if he were like bruce bowen, old but still reliable, then yeah keep him, but hes not doing much off the bench...maybe a few boards here and there but not much
