He was good for like 6 seasons in total defensively. 2008 - 2013. Before that he was garbage. And after that he was even worse.

Didn’t start playing defense until the 2008 season. Not coincidentally after FIBA 2007 with Kobe’s influence did he start showing more effort on that end.

He was “very good” for exactly 3 seasons: 2011, 2012, and 2013 also not coincidentally when he was playing with another top 5 player and a top 5 PF. So, playing alongside other great offensive players to lower pressure on that end and very good defenders to assist on the other end as well.

Never thought he was great. Thought the argument for him being DPOY in 2013 was pretty ridiculous. A weak year for DPOY candidates in general. He’s never been particularly great on ball defender and he was essentially at his peak a free roaming / gambling 6’8 version of Iverson.

He’s overrated defensively due to chase down blocks that are admittedly highlight worthy.

Your just a hater so of course your going to say that

Reality is LeBron finished top 2 in DPOY voting twice for a reason (09 & 13) Jordan only did it once btw and LeBron got screwed from winning it in 2013.

Outside of Pippen peak LeBron was the only other player who could go out there and effectively defend all 5 positions at a elite level.

Help defense is much more important than on ball defense and peak LeBron was arguably the GOAT help off ball defender because of his versatility

Lequit watched re-runs of Tayshaun Prince chase down blocks and thought that it would enable him to be DPOY over guys like:

Rudy Gobert
Draymond Green
Kawhi Leonard
Joakim Noah
Marc Gasol
Tyson Chandler
Dwight Howard
Kevin Garnett
Marcus Camby
Ben Wallace
Ron Artest

Might be the dumbest thing I've read on here in awhile.

Coach gon coach. Iverson was always a terrible defensive player. LeBron was a great team/help defender at his peak. He wasn't just gambling and putting his team off balance like Iverson. You are legit one of the worst posters on the board now, Coach.
