Anyone genuinely angry about this either isn't a Celtics fan or hasn't observed Ray being pushed out of Boston's 'bigger picture' for awhile now. The injuries, post-season struggles, and surge in Bradley's reliability as a starter planted the seed for Ray's eventual departure. While it's a bit rough to see him leave for such a polarizing in conference rival, there shouldn't be any ill-will towards a guy for making a career move that fits squarely with the needs and priorities of his family.
Again, all the best to the guy. End of an era, certainly.
I wonder, what was the Celtics offer? Does this ensure Ray doesn't get his number retired by the Celtics? Are the big 3/4 not as close as everybody thought? Did Ray Allen feel like an outcast? I still remember the smug look on his face when Pierce won the Finals MVP.
The Heat-Celtics (or even Lebron vs. Celtics if you want to get that far into it) rivalry is far more substantial then you are making it out to be. If you haven't noticed their series these past couple years have been war. The two teams despise each other. It's not exactly a reach to assume Pierce, Garnett and Rondo won't exactly be patting Ray on the back and wishing him good luck as he walks out the door.
Like someone else said, this not only affects the Celtics but every contending team. The fact that he joined the already most stacked team in the NBA goes to show how much he values tagging along for another ring over playin for the greatest Celtics teams (that he helped build) since the 80's, one which he already won a championship with.
Again, all conjecture. You don't now anything about the Boston fan base if you believe he gets boo'd upon arrival in a Heat jersey. The guy was an integral part of that 2008 championship and a primary reason they were considered a contender beyond that point.
Lots of people who have never even been to Boston or a Celtics game at the Garden speaking from a dimwitted, uninformed soapbox.
Please quote anything I've written in this thread that would indicate I'm angry, or anything but accepting and understanding about the topic we're discussing. Not everybody is as foolish and biased as the lion share of posters on this board, my dear.
