moore, although i confess i don't know much about magliore. can't be too excited with his recent numbers, though.

moore seemed like a genuine guy, really wanted to win, made his easy shots, had pet snakes...seemed like a good guy to have on the team. this is too bad.

Am I the only person that doesn't think losing Moore is a big loss? I mean he is only the player he is because of Kidd and Carter.

Put any big that understands the game and he will be able to do the same thing that Moore did. At least that is what I think. You all have seen more Nets games than me so I trust all of your opinions on this are right.

There is some truth to that. Except that Mikki Moore is an awesome shooter. Evan though J-Kidd got him wide open looks, You still gotta drain the jumper. This is why Mikki Moore is better than Jason Collins. Mikki led the league in shooting percentage. This is no small feat. I think Magloire will flourish in different ways than Mikki. Only time will tell if his style is more valuable than Moore's. J-Kidd will always improve anyone that plays alongside him but the two players are different. Mikki Moore made players come out of the paint and defend him cause he could shoot well. Magloire will probably want to roll to the basket off picks. This may clog up the middle taking Carter and Jeffersons' penetratrion. unless Magloire is scoring, then he will attract attention like Mikki Moore did once teams figured out he could shoot.

I agree with Richmo. Moore was a genuine shooter, and even though Kidd and Carter did assist him, you can't use that as an alibi against Moore. But Moore was a little too lightweight, which prevented him from averaging the # of rebounds we wanted. I think Magloire will be an improvement in that aspect.

To answer the question, I don't know yet. I really haven't seen Magloire play pretty much at all, except for that one all-star game. I need to see him play some before I judge what kind of player he is.

Well we got destroyed on the glass by Cleveland and that was the difference in that series. That's why we got Magloire. Mikki stepped up big time and somehow became that 4th option the Nets needed once Nenad went down. I'm hoping for a Charles Oakley type of role out Magloire. Attack the glass, be a physical presence, solid defense, watch Nenad's back, consistently hit that 10 foot jump shot. If we can get 10 and 8 out of him, i'd be ecstatic.

This is a move that Magloire made for himself and himself alone. He is only there a year. He knows that they have a weak front-court. He will be able to put up good stats for a decent team and cash in on one more big paycheck next year. The Nets will be a good team next year, but they will no means be a title contender. Magloire is out for himself, and Kidd has got to slow down sooner than later. Best case scenario is they make it to the Eastern Finals.

With how wide open the East is, it wouldn't be a suprise at all to see NJ get to the Finals. IMO all these teams have a good shot at coming out of the East:

Detroit
Chicago
Cleveland
NJ
Washington
Toronto
Miami

I honestly think that the East is that wide open.

i don't think moore would have been that effective this year. with nenad coming back, they kind of have that same mid-range jumper. both of them really don't thrive in the post. with magloire, you have a true center that can bang down low. he won't be looking to take jump shots like mikki. i've watched plenty of games, and always wondered how mikki and nenad would do together on the floor. i'd take magloire over mikki with the current nets roster. i guess we'll see in a few months.

This is funny... This was an interaction beetween Mikki Moore and one of the kids at his camp.

"One kid asked me 'If I bring my shoes tomorrow, will you sign them?' I said 'Yeah,'" said Moore, in a story he swore to be true. "Then he said 'If I bring you my t-shirt tomorrow, will you sign it?' and I said 'Yeah.' Then one of those little, little kids said 'If I bring you a Nets contract, will you sign it?'

moore was just a tall dude that had no strength but had a jumper ...

he didn't rebound well .. he thought he was sooo goood ... but jkidd made him a below average player ... other than a crappy player that he really is

Magloire brings rebounding skills and some interior game ... much stronger too ... though not as energetic, he will make a difference .. i feel it

Give me the former all star. Rebounds better and plays smarter.
