Yeah, but ultimately, he did not step it up in the 4th quarter at the right time. He attacked in the 3rd very well, then when he came in the 4th, he started being "jumpshot VC" and then with about 1 minute left, he started attacking and going to the line. Overall great game by him, but the fact that he could give an effort like this anyday but doesn't just confuses me. He could drive so easily against the defense, he could score on a dunk or a layup without being fazed one bit, he could do all this without pain or injury. It really makes you wonder what was holding him from doing this earlier in the season. It makes you wonder why within a few minutes of play, he can go from the VC we love to the VC we hate. It makes you wonder why he would give such an effort so late in the game, when if he gave the same effort a few minutes earlier (or a few games earlier), the Nets might have been more successful and trade talk wouldn't make me as nervous. I'm not knocking on Vince's performance today because he was spectacular, but since this season's been such a downhill slide, I'm just bewildered at why he's so inconsistent. Why is it that it only takes a few minutes for him to suddenly change into a passive, jumpshooting player when he has the capability to do much more? This guy is the master of trickery, honestly.

carter is not to blame for the lost....its gotta be kidds shooting he was 2 for 14 from the field. maybe its because its the first game back from allstar weekend.
carter was a monster in this game he when to the line 12 times even tho the nets should of had this game with out rj and neneda its the first game back.
I'm not blaming Carter for this game, as I specifically said. It's been proven that when he's aggressive and has an attitude, he plays better. And when he plays better, the Nets have statistically won more games. Why doesn't he give the effort he gave tonight more often is all I'm asking. He could save himself and his teammates a lot less stress by doing so, but something is compeling him not to.
If we have RJ and Vince both cutting to the basket, that would be a huge help for us, especially if they kick it out to Mikki and he can continue to hit that jumper and Kidd can keep his 3 ball going.

Totally agree. ALready we can see a huge difference with RJ being back makes. I want to see the Nets attack a lot more, and if we have both Vince and RJ with that mindset, it will open up the floor so much more.
Remember when RJ first went out with injury, J Kidd was penetrating into the paint much more, and the defense would collapse on him, allowing him to pass to to the open man. If the Nets get more paint presence, the game will get a lot easier for them.
