NBA contracts shouldn't be fully guaranteed. When you do that, you risk that the beneficiary of said contract will just do the bare minimum to get paid, and not a bit more. As a result, you risk the quality of play when everything is guaranteed.

NBA should really have the model the NFL has while the NFL should have the model the NBA has.

I wouldnt say that because they only play 16 games versus 82 games from NBA. If we count the money per game, nfl is not that worse off

You're missing my point. My point is that guys like Lebron, Kobe, Curry, Harden, etc. should be making $50+ million a year because they actually draw in fans. Sure, teams can do whatever they want, but this tv money should really be reserved for the guys who bring in the revenues...not role players.

Just like a salesperson at a company gets paid based upon what they bring in, NBA players should be paid based upon what they bring in, but unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.

The NFL can be pretty brutal and cut-throat when it comes to the business side of things. That shield just has an incredible amount of power and, unlike in the NBA, no player, coach or general manager is bigger than The Shield.

However, there are some pretty key differences, the first being that an NFL gameday roster is comprised of 53 players, and that doesn't include all of the practice guys who are called up on a daily/weekly basis. There are 22 starting players and that doesn't include special teams. Multiply all of that over 32 teams and the numbers get pretty high. When you have that many guys, a pretty good wide receiver isn't going to be getting $100 million in guaranteed money.

Fact is, the NBA is a more exclusive club. There are only 13 players allowed to dress for an NBA game, only five starters, and just 30 teams.

What does global popularity have to do with how much players get paid by their league? NFL more than doubles the revenue of the NBA.
