Maybe they won't make the last cut until Monday? It should have already been done today. They pay them either way so it shouldn't matter. Maybe they are hoping to know Exum's situation before they do? Or want to see them in a couple of more practices?

Anyone expecting the Jazz to establish anything close to a 51-win pace as this season unfolds is sure to be disappointed.

Cut to this preseason and the Utah Jazz boasted an offensive rating of 110.0, an improvement of 10.9 points per 100 possessions. Now the Utah Jazz had a healthy squad and played an NBL team, a team from Euroleague, the Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Lakers, not exactly the toughest of competition, but this was supposed to be an anemic offense. If there would be teams that could take advantage of a supposedly league worst offense it would be those bottom feeders and international teams. Instead Utah feasted and looked like a far superior team.
they didn't look far superior to the lowly Lakers though

Quin Snyder was part of the Atlanta Hawks coaching staff that turned a bunch of role players into a highly efficient offensive machine due to their depth and discipline. Looking back on that team they had high quality role players and undervalued players who were stars but generally overlooked. Could this Utah team be the rebirth of that anomaly?
Hawks had shooters and better overall talent

But will the Jazz be a bottom 10 offense in the league? Most likely not.
why is it not likely? Seems very likely to me

Mitchell needs to start and be featured with Rudy
What do you expect out of Mitchell this year? I think he'll be good defensively, but subpar offensively until February when he starts to figure it out. I would like it if he starts, but the Jazz are going to play Hood/Ingles more than they should. If one gets injured then he'll get his shot, with Hood that seems probable

He looks good enough to build around him and Rudy now. Keep whoever fits and get rid of the rest.

Dante Exum was injured in his third preseason game against the Phoenix Suns and at this stage, a return to the court in the 2017-18 NBA season looks unlikely.
why does it seem unlikely when no surgery means 6-12 weels?

[QUOTE]Neto almost lost his spot in the rotation entirely last year as he was scrapping for backup minutes with Exum and Shelvin Mack. But now he finds himself at the forefront of the second unit as one of two healthy point guards on Utah

I would think that if surgery were necessary, they would have done it immediately to expedite the whole process, so again, this may be a good sign. Or we could just be reading into things.
youre' just reading into things. Even if they decide on surgery they may have to wait for welling to go down. They aren't going to rush something that is 6 months off anyway

Ideally, Rodney Hood is able to step up and fill that roll.
    Why is that ideal?

can we really count on a rookie in Donovan Mitchell to be a go-to scorer?
not sure you can count on anyone but Mitchell is one of 6 guys that should be doing most of the scoring

I think we can safely say the Jazz are going to be just fine on offense this season.
    we can?

it also became clear that the Jazz are still going to be able to be effective in the half court.
clear based on pre-season games against crappy teams?

Jazz fans will no doubt want to thank Lyles for being the key piece in the trade that brought back Donovan Mitchell.
let's hope he doesn't get booed for being a gunner. Did he beat Faried out for the rotation?

At this point, they may need to make up some ground in the playoff race

But it’s Game 1 after the all-star break and trade deadline. Will the Jazz look different? Will they have the same roster? Will there be new faces?
No doubt it will be a much different team. Gobert, Mitchell and who? Favors, Johnson, Hood and Rubio need to go for sure. Probably some others just to make room for whoever they get for the former and maybe to make those deals work. Young prospects, young vets, picks, cash and other assets. Playing for next season or the one after

George Hill makes his first, and only, return visit to Utah this season. He was very good for the Jazz last year, but things ended on a rather sour note, as he was largely unavailable in the second round of the playoffs against Golden State. How will the fans receive him? He only played one year for the Jazz, but those 47 games were certainly productive.
should get a huge reception but who knows they may boo him
