1. the macbook air's screen and body is just so damn sexy.. but I never felt the need to spend so much cash for 1 laptop.. I could buy 2 windows laptops with the cost of 1 MBA
2. windows ultrabooks, there's a lot of sexy ones out there, but are their performance good enough yet? does it come with more than 120g memory?
3. or should I wait for the newest crop of Windows 8 laptops? The hybrid ones where it can be touch screen tablet mode, and go into full desktop mode.
my current laptop is thick, heavy, and the battery is dead. Performance is still great though. Perhaps I should wait for few more months for the Win8 touch screen laptops to develop even more? I'm afraid non-touch screen laptops will soon be obsolete.
I have an AIR and I love it, although the battery life sucks dick. It only lasts for about 2:30 hours if i'm using it, although it only takes an hour to recharge.

I thought the battery life for AIR was better than that?? I'm not sure what the battery life of these new laptops are, but I expected them to have at least 5+ hours..
I'm sorry but I've always thought the thinkpad looks realllllly outdated. The design, keyboard, everything looks like it's from the 1990's... I just can't bring myself to use a thinkpad no matter what.
I am looking for something sleek, probably touchscreen, and decent processor with enough space inside (500g?). i use my laptop mainly for working - word, excel, powerpoint, then browsing, torrent, videos, etc. Don't play any games either.
I'm going to eventually get a Windows 8 tablet/PC so I can use it as a tablet when I want to or a laptop, but I won't until next year during Black Friday when the machines have been developed for another year and there are some good deals.
that looks pretty neat, but does it really go into desktop mode, or is it just a tablet with a keyboard - like the asus tranformer ones?
I wish I would be able to use android when in tablet mode, and windows 8 in desktop mode.. I've never used the win 8 tablet but it looks all blocks and pretty boring.. not sure if it has all the games and apps too.

Yeah its a full Windows 8 machine so you can run desktop apps on it. It has a core i5 (very fast) processor.

i just watched a video on it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbbULi1ioqI
yes yes it's the hybrid I'm talking about. Damn, technology sure moved fast.. this is exactly what I want. Full desktop mode and detachable for tablet mode as well. I can't believe a full window machine is that thin..
Exciting times.. does anyone here have one of these tablet/win 8 ultrabooks? Would be interesting to hear some user experience, do they lag, how useful is the touchscreen, battery life etc

Depends on what you're using it for. If my keyboard light and screen brightness is all the way up, my battery lasts for around 3 hours full charged. But if I'm streaming sports or a movie? 1:30 hours tops

Well I've been trying to buy one for the past month, but seems every damn store online is sold out, maybe after the Christmas season I'll finally land one.
Microsoft Surface Pro will also be coming out around February or so, guess they decided to give their OEMs an advantage by not releasing their pro setup right out the gate. Although it's also rumored that they are waiting for the next generation intel mobile chips.
