"We all have it comin kid."

Seriously though, if any of this is true there is not much any of us can do. You can't just escape a cloud of radiation. Which to me, if a cloud can carry radiation, then this would have happened many time before.

It seems logical that any radiation leakage in Japan would not go very far. If there was any, it seems it would dilute as it came across the ocean.

haha exactly.. it's impossible for radiation from tokyo to reach the west coast even if the jet stream makes a beeline for it... you get more exposure standing in the beautiful california sun for 10 minutes than you'll get from japan's reactors

this is just another case of dooms screaming doom and gloom from his bunker

whatever you want to believe is fine with me...

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...ml?ref=science

Quote:
A forecast by the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization shows how weather patterns this week might disperse radiation from a continuous source in Fukushima, Japan. The forecast does not show actual levels of radiation, but it does allow the organization to estimate when different monitoring stations, marked with small dots, might be able to detect extremely low levels of radiation. Health and nuclear experts emphasize that any plume will be diluted as it travels and, at worst, would have extremely minor health consequences in the United States.

you should believe it. There are low levels of radiation being brought over by the jetstream. Its all over the MSM if you care to check.

Now, what is the impact of this? Probably negligible, but its not over yet.

I would rather trust a scientist's assessment, thank you

Dooms may be chicken little, but sometimes he posts real info (and then distorts its impact, but that doesnt discredit the info).

and either way (radiation in California or no Radiation in california)......

Japan just got knocked the f*ck out... I don't know how that country is
going to survive through this situation.

Helicopters dumping water on the reactor is obviously a list ditch effort
to prevent a total meltdown.

There was information that they shut down nuclear reactors.

Then what raises the heat ?
If they are shut down and being cooled how come temperature is still increasing ?
It doesn't make sense to me.

I'm not an expert,I don't you are also but maybe someone has a logical explanation.

Reactors 1,2 and 3 were in opperation before the earthquake. Once the earthquake hit, the reactors are automatically shut down, this is usually typical of any Nuke plant. With this type of reactor, the fuel inside the containment vessel is still extremely hot even after shut down, but coolent water is circulated so that it cools down. There are different saftey systems in place that make sure that there some form of coolent is circulated around these fuel rods so it can cool down.

Problem is that most of these safety systems failed in one way or another due to the combination of the powerful earthquake and tsunami. With no coolent being circulated, the coolent turns into steam and slowly the coolent water empties from the containment vessel and the fuel rods become exposed and become hotter and hotter and eventually will melt if there isn't adequate cooling.

they went offline automatically when the EQ hit. But the issue is that the tsunami wrecked the power supply and, apparently, the backup generators. So, the only thing running the cooling system (which requires lots of water circulation) was the batteries, which are only designed to work for a brief period.

So, since the batteries died, the water in the cooling system hasnt been flowing and the water in direct contact with both the rods and the waste pools has been evaporated away. as it gets hotter, it speeds up the reaction.

also, they found out that one of the plants in MI had faulty backup generators for 20 years (going back to the 80s) without anyone checking or knowing. we are also storing waste on the lake MI shoreline in violation of the EPA laws regulating nuclear waste. Despite having the whistle blown in 1994, they are still there. weak sauce.
