Default Darren Aronofsky Exits THE WOLVERINE!

Quote:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Darren Aronofsky has vacated the director's chair on 20th Century Fox's forthcoming THE WOLVERINE. The celebrated filmmaker has cited the lengthy out-of-country shooting schedule as the primary reason for his exit. Can't fault a man for not wanting to be away from his family for an extended period of time.

Deadline has fleshed out the story a little bit, and it sounds like this has nothing to do with the dreaded "creative differences" (the buzz on Christopher McQuarrie's screenplay is generally positive). The film wasn't scheduled to start shooting until summer at the earliest, so there is some time for 20th Century Fox and Hugh Jackman to regroup and find a new director.

Aronofsky's departure completely erodes all interest I had in this movie. It'll be interesting to see how the studio proceeds now that they've lost a world-class filmmaker.

'the fighter' did well after aronfosky left. i'm sure 'the wolverine' can find someone.

also as a aronfosky fan, i like this move. doing a comic book movie isn't his genre. aronfosky needs to stick to what he does best.

chances are any of his comic book films would have made the greatest comic book film of alltime but that isnt the point. he is now free to go and do another real film. and not sticking to a paticular style/genre is precisely why he is held in such high regard "what he does best", honestly he does 2 films with comparable cinematography and themes and hes suddenly a one trick pony. you need to look at his entire oevre.

i felt that the success of black swan should now give him a bit more power to negotiate some level of finance that he could atleast begin to think about making noah's ark.
