So without Kobe does the team suddenly get healthy? Does Nash not miss 30+ games, do Steve Blake and Jordan Hill miss half the season? Does Gasol become healthy early in the season and stop playing like a puss? Does D'Antoni grow a brain or coach defense? If you think a lineup of Duhon, Meeks, World Peace, Gasol and Howard for a good portion of the season is getting you higher than an 8th seed you need to stop smoking crack.

Yes that lineup would get a higher than 7 seed. The Lakers have always gone as far as their big men take them. This is a constant. And Gasol- Howard is a very talented front court. Even though scoring wise they don't fully fit together, they are the total package and one of the top front courts in the NBA. Their rebounding is superb and makes up for any missed shots, Gasol is a great passer, Howard is a great defender.

Big men win titles, little men sell tickets and LA has the best center in the game and one of the best PFs in the game.

Well let's see by your logic then the team right now should be higher than a 7th seed because Gasol and Howard should be cleaning up all of Kobe's missed shots. You say they don't fit together then you say they're one of the NBA's top front courts check your facts the whole Lakers team has been playing better as of all star break. The Jazz, Dallas and Portland barely missed the playoffs and they all hard very good front courts.
