Suns Release 2006 Preseason Schedule

Posted: Aug. 3, 2006
The Phoenix Suns announced today their eight-game 2006 preseason schedule, which includes contests in three different countries, including Italy, Germany and the United States.

The Suns, who are one of four NBA teams (San Antonio, Philadelphia, Los Angeles Clippers) that will participate this fall in NBA Europe Live presented by EA SPORTS™, will play three preseason contests overseas and conduct training camp in Treviso, Italy. The preseason opener is against Italian club Virtus Lottomatica Roma in at the PalaLottomatica in Rome on Oct. 6.

Phoenix will then participate in a tournament at the Kölnarena in Cologne, Germany. The tournament will feature games between the 76ers and the Suns and the 2005-06 Euroleague Champion CSKA Moscow vs. the Euroleague runner-up Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv on Oct. 10. The finale will feature matchups on Oct. 11 between the winners and the runners-up of each game.

Following the European finale, the Suns will return to the States to play three home games at the US Airways Center and two neutral-site contests. The home schedule includes games against the Clippers, who the Suns defeated 4-3 in the 2006 Western Conference Semifinals, on Oct. 17, Sacramento on Oct. 19 and the Seattle SuperSonics on Oct. 23 in the preseason finale. All three home games start at 7 p.m.

Both of the Suns’ neutral-site games are against the Los Angeles Lakers, who the Suns rallied against in the first round of the 2006 NBA Playoffs after trailing the series 3-1, on Oct. 15 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and again on Oct. 22 at the ipayOne Center in San Diego, Calif.

All eight preseason games will be broadcast on the Suns Radio Network with the flagship station, KTAR 620 AM in Phoenix. Suns season ticket packages are now on sale by calling 602-379-SUNS or visit
