Thats not much better than Parker, Manu and Duncan in all honesty. Nash is better than Parker but defense evens it out a fair bit. Duncan is better than Garnett. Amare is better than Manu, but again his complete lack of interest in defense evens it out. Throw in Bowen and it becomes very even. Suns would certainly have a good shot though. They would be better off staying with what they have and getting Nash and Amare to play defense though.
Since when do we compare guards with forwards? Everyone knows a dominant big man is more important than a guard like Manu.
Please tell me how Amare shows a lack of interest in playing defense in the playoffs or in important games? He is still learning and has shown that he can have great defensive games against top-tier opponents. It's inconstancy that hurts his defense but as he continues to mature as a player that will change.
Amare, Garnett and Nash? You really might as well just give them the ring if that happens.
u realize that when amare came back from surgery all u sunz fans said, now that amare is back with nash marion diaw etc... jus give u our rings.. liek it was a given that now you will forsure win a chip
+ u guys dont realize how important marion is to ur team, go look at ur record when he did not play this year.
he gets you 20 pts with out any plays, he makes nashs job sooo much easier 14 of those pts you guys shouldnt be getting, its be/c of his atheletic nature and ability to finish
+ he always defends 110%
who knows how long amares knees will hold up
he has no real post moves and he wouldnt be a gr8 player in any half court set that doesnt involve nash..
How is Marion more important? I am dumbfounded at how you can say a athletic 6"7 forward is more important than a 6"10 dominating big man.
I never said Marion was the better player (which he is, barely by the way), I just said Marion was more important to the Suns as a team. Look how far we got last season without Amare. In my opinion a 3/4 that is a superb defender, can cover 4 positions, a freakish rebounder, and averaging 17.5/9.8/1.7 with 2 steals and 1.5 blocks. It doesn't matter if Shawn "can't create his own shot" when Nash is playing the point. And lets look at Amare's bag of tricks on O. Below average back to the basket game, with an above average face to the basket game. Oh, and what does he do when he can't seem to get by his defender? He shoots a midrange J, regardless of open teammates. What about his extremely sub par defense?
If I'm running the Suns system, I would rather have a guy that doesn't need to dominate the ball on O with a better all around game (sacrificing maybe 5 points, but evened out with much better D), than taking Amare who is useless anywhere but scoring (the Carmelo Anthony of bigs if you will).
My answer would probably be different if we were competing for titles 5 or so years from now when Amare's age will be useful, but we have a small window left with Nash only being able to compete 3 or 4 more years MAYBE. This is why I would much rather give up Amare for KG than Marion.
