This isn't the first time this has happened in the West. Some years ago The Warriors were the 8th seed with 48 wins I believe (Stephen Jackson, Baron Davis days).

Damian Lillard at the beginning of the year predicted the Blazers to have 44-48 wins.

the NBA really needs to get rid of conferences

just have division winners automatically make it and go from there.

its ridiculous that for the past 10-15 years the top few seeds in the EC have basically gotten a bye in the first round.

Right. I definitely didn't think they were going far in the playoffs. Early in the season they got off to a fast start and had the good fortune of good health to all their starters. Their starters got a chance to play many games together before LaMarcus went down. I don't know if their schedule was an easy one early on or what but they've fallen off quite a bit.

Earlier in the season, I pointed out everything you said to a friend of mine and he laughed at me. He said they'd definitely be in the conference finals.
Classic example of a top heavy team starting the season red-hot and not pacing themselves for the long season.
It's unfortunate too cause I like a lot of their players.

Exactly. How stupid is it that we have to watch that shit show...and at least one damn good team is out in the West.

Not to mention that the Wolves, Nuggets, and Pelicans would probably be in the playoffs if they played in the shitty East. The Wolves would be for sure...

Total joke and they really need to fix it. Just way too big of an advantage to get more easy wins in the regular season and then at least 1 bye in the first round each year for the top teams.
