Because he's injury prone, a more logical payment would be from 8-10 million per year, which for a 5 year contract would be anywhere from 40-50 million.
I'm not sure that G-Dub would be happy with anything less than 10Mil a year and really do believe that he will be offered that amount by a team who really wants him despite his tendency to be injured and miss games. Time will tell, though. Perhaps you guys are right and I'm overestimating Wallace's abilities and production on the court.
Yes, I understand what you're saying. That's why my judgment may be off because I'm thinking of what he'd be worth if he were not an 'injury-magnet' rather than what he actually may be worth as-is to another team. This off- season will be a real nail-biter because there is so much to be done as far as hiring a head coach, keeping our core players, utilizing the team's draft picks well and seeing which FAs would be willing to play in Charlotte.
Wallace has played in 197 of the 246 total games since becoming a Bobcat which is roughly at 80%. While that is in no means perfect and definately doesnt suggest hes not injury prone I just dont think its as bad as some people make it out to be. I would give him 10 million a year. It isnt everyday that an athletic freak reaching his prime has a chance to play on your favorite team.
