A company called Lenovo Stat, affiliated with the NBA, says the Bobcats' best lineup over the first quarter of the season was Raymond Felton, Matt Carroll, Adam Morrison, Sean May and Emeka Okafor. I was struck that Gerald Wallace wasn't in that group until I recalled the analysis was based exclusively on the first quarter.

Morrison had seven games of 20 or more points in his first 16 games, and two games of 20 or more in the next 24. Wallace had a slow start, then had games of 31, 28, 40 and 28 points between games 23 and 40. The study wasn't based solely on scoring, but obviously the trend above was a factor. Bottom line: No way rookie Morrison has done more for the Bobcats this season than Wallace.

Sports Illustrated did a poll of the players, and that poll predicts Morrison will be the best player in this draft class, both this season and over his career. Portland's Brandon Roy finished second in both categories. Morrison won 49 percent of the vote for this season to Roy's 25 percent. In the best-career vote, Morrison drew 32 percent to Roy's 25 percent. Observations | Rick Bonnell
