    Default Praying Mantis: GOAT insect

    - They're a lot of fun to play with and just let them crawl over you. I see a spider in my house that I don't like, I grab a praying mantis and set it near it. Watch it grab that trespassing mother****er and slowly devour it.

    - You can deploy them all over your yard to reduce pests. They seem to even enter my shed and kill some of them nasty black widows that hang out there because I don't see many of them around any more.

    - They just look awesome and come in a lot of different shades and camouflage (I only have greenish shades around the house right now)

    Look at these beautiful creatures:

    GOAT bug.

I get those all over my yard. In the spring they start out so small by the end of summer some of these things are big enough it's creepy to pick them up.

GOAT seems a much better description on this forum. I'll change the title.

I don't know about him but I'm in Cali and we get them in the garage, wood piles, under the deck. Anywhere that's shaded and undisturbed is a place you have to watch for them

I think they can, but usually don't. I had a praying mantis back in the day. Awesome pet. I loved watching it eat grasshoppers like they were corn on the cob. My brother got sick of helping take care of it and our pet frog, so he put them in a cage to battle to the death. They stayed on opposite sides of the small cage, so my brother flicked them towards each other. The mantis would stab the frog in the back, and the frog would boot the mantis across the cage. Both died, but the mantis died first from the beating while the frog died about 6 hours later after slowly bleeding.

Also, Oregon gets black widows too, but not a lot where I live. I find one once every few years. Think I saw one a couple days ago, but I didn't want to f*ck with it to see if it had the hourglass on the bottom.

Your brother sounds like nice guy when it comes to animals.

Always been my favorite insect. I remember in like 4th or 5th grade my class had this art project. We had to make an animal or insect out of clay. I picked praying mantis. I still remember it was painted green. I wonder if my mom still has it somewhere.
