Default 2006/07: Kevin Martin = 2003/04 Peja Stojakovic

Martin: 25 PPG 54% FG 46% 3FG 90% FT 5.3 RPG 1.7 SPG 15 att/game

Stojakovic: 24 PPG 48 FG% 43% 3PFG 92% FT 6.3 RPG 1.3 SPG 17 att/game

Their stats are relatively close with Peja getting 1 more rebound and Martin shooting a better FG%.

The biggest similarity is in their low number of attempts and high point totals. Both players seem to get a lot of points without really having many plays ran for them or even trying very hard. It always seems like they never get the ball enough during the game.

Their games are lot alike. Peja used to score the majority of his points off of jump shots and cuts/drives. Peja always got open by moving well without the ball. Kevin Martin has the same quickness and ability to move without the ball which results in him getting open a lot of open looks. Both players greatly benifited from playing with good passers but both are also able to create their own shot with a combination of dribbling, spins and pump fakes.

Both players are underrated defenders. Peja rebounded well for his position and got his fair share of steals. Kev Martin is getting 5 RPG as a 2guard, which is pretty legit. Both guys held their own on defense but their public was too in love with their offense production to take recognize them as defenders.

Both are soft players. Who needed to toughen up a little to get to the next level. Peja and Kevin both played well when their teammates passed them the ball, but neither of them demanded the ball. Which was great and showed their humbleness; however, in some games they faded away in the 4th when the Defense got a little grittier and the pressure was higher.

We all know that after that year, Peja took a step back? Is that the future of Kevin Martin?

peja can shoot better than kevin but k-mart is getting there. and stojakovic was an MVP candidate that year, he drained threes like layups. obviously peja had those stats for a full season, kevins only had those for 11 games..but if he can keep it up...

I don't see a similarity in their games other than stats. Peja was a shooter who used screens to get his shot, and really didn't do anything off of the dribble. He would use a dribble fake and step back and shoot, and he didn't drive to the basket very often. The only buckets around the hoop that Peja got was off of back cuts that left him open by the bucket.

Martin, however, get's to the line more than Peja. He is quick off of the dribble, something that Peja wasn't. He gets to the line off of driving and creating contact. Since he has good elevation, he can drive, create contact, and rise for the jump shot and get a trip to the line.
